Goddamn it guys! I just bought a Stable Energies mount and a 2.5lbs Halotron FE last week. Why couldn't we get this started last week!

Call me paranoid, but I will be interested in additional FEs if there is going to be a group buy.

BTW, there's a fellow on eBay who sells a simple $25 FE mount that uses the rear seat belt mounts. It's a simple piece of metal that goes across the rear seat belt bolts -- not as accessible, but less intrusive than passenger seat mounts. The FE would sit where the rear passenger would otherwise be.

Hmm, is there any way for a moderator to mirror the thread over all the forums? I just noticed that I have been posting in the thread in the 924/944/968 forum and I haven't even read what is on this one. We kind of need a single thread mirrored over all the forums, including the 928 and the 911 forums. This could be one gigantic group buy.

What do you guys think about this one?

Great looking build quality, and a well-known name.
Imagine topping that deal with a discount!!!
I feel you Eyal. I would rather have a chrome or stainless steel bottle, but the price barely justifies it. It's like 10-20 dollars extra for this finish, and its just a bottle. If you plan on displaying it out in the passenger area, yeah I would pay extra for it, but I plan to hide it away behind a seat or under a seat if it will fit.

I guess im the lucky one my car already came with a stable energy fire extinguisher, though i am missing one of the clips that hold the extinguisher in place. If i can get a new clip though this group buy i might as well participate in it.

Amerex Halotron seems like the way to go -- and that's a fantastic price already! I'd pay a little extra for chrome finish.

Anyone know how long it would take to discharge the entire 2.5 lbs? I am wondering if you would only get one shot at getting the fire out. I currently keep a 5 lb dry chemical in the car. I hope I never use it due to the rust problems that occur after using them. Halotron would be a better unit for a car so count me in.

Brian Perry could probably tell you how long it takes to discharge it all. I have only had to use them 2-3 times in a shop and all my FEs were much larger than 2.5 lbs.

One thing that has not been mentioned yet is that you need to maintain an FE. Nothing scared me more than when I was trying to put a truck that was on fire out and the industrial FE was empty because someone had not checked it. If you have ever hauled A** across a shop to grab another extinguisher you will know the importance of maintaining them.

I have heard back from OG Racing. They are very well prepared to handle a group buy and the pricing would be as follows:

2.5lb Halon Fire extinguisher (red)-Regular price $150--Rennlist price $125
Brey Krause mount for 911 & 944 non power- Regular price $69.95---Rennlist price-$58.29
Brey Krause mount for 911 & 944 power- Regular price $69.95---Rennlist price-$58.29
Brey Krause mount for 69-73 911- Regular price $69.95---Rennlist price-$58.29
Brey Krause mount for Boxster/996- Regular price- $109.95---Rennlist price-$91.60
Brey Krause mount for Cayenne- Regular price- $144.95---Rennlist price-$115.88

Shipping would be a flat rate to the lower 48 states. The extinguishers cannot be shipped to Alaska, Hawaii, or internationally due to UPS regs.

More to come.

Pete, I appreciate the effort, but in my opinion $125 doesn't seem like a great deal to me -- I can get 2.5# Halon (Amerex) from Stable Energies for $130, $5 more, but w/o the hassle of a group buy.

Any option of 1) Halotron instead of Halon and 2) chrome instead of red?

Kinda late in the thread for this.....

I picked up my 3.3lb Halon over ten years ago for my VW bus ( yeah, they burn up real good too!), when I was single and "wild and crazy". Now I keep it behind my 951's seat.

I guess after ten years she's more of a good luck charm

The group buy will be for Halon, chrome (polished S/S) is an option, and with the group buy shipping will be quick. The vendor is increasing his stock.

You may want to get a recent quote from SE, the price on Halon is rising fast.

http://www.fireadesource.com/
http://www.fireade2000.com/

This stuff is supposed to be the best for auto racing applications...and a 16oz bottle only costs $20!!!

http://www.fireadesource.com/track-rescue.html

It works on Class AB and C in a 12volt environment. (Not approved for class C in a home 110v environment).

I am ordering a bunch right now.

Damn ya beat me to it
http://www.fireadesource.com/fire-extinguishers.html

My buddy got a fire in his brothers muscle car on one of the headers, he said it shot out a thick stream of foamy stuff and pt it out quick!!!!!! for the price you cant beat it. Also you dont need to recharge the stuff if you only use a little. I just wish there was more option on size. I dont want to be in a situation with too littledry chemical.
