All the work on my car was definately worth it. Went down to Sebring and the car ran execellent. I was careful for about the first three laps of the first session and then I just started getting after it. The new suspension was outstanding. I was able to compensate for the understeer and I was able to string together a bunch of good laps.
However, now I remember what I wish my car had that is still doesn't.
1. Better brakes. For the next DE in january I am going to get some different pads, probably pagid orange we'll see. From there I will just run that due to the somewhat prohibitive cost of larger brakes.
2. More power. My car is just a dog in 4th gear on both the front and back straights at Sebring. I am thinking of just getting some AFM chips, fpr, mbc, and possibly another wastegate to get a bit more power. Most of the cars in solo in our club are prepped cars. But, I was able to push my car as best I could and keep up and pass several of them.
If I can get a small improvement in the above two things, I think it would be just that much more fun. Suffice to say, I was laughing the whole time I was so stoked that the car was running so well.
To anybody wondering if these cars can be made to be reliable here is what I did yesterday + day before. Tampa to Sebring (120 miles) + 3 full solo DE sessions + Sebring to Tampa (120 miles) + Tampa to Gainesville (120 miles). Car ran absolutely perfectly. No oil consumption. No leaks. Perfect temp and pressure. If you fix wear items on these cars and keep up on the maintanence they will treat you right. If you don't, they are 18-15 yrs old and they will break on you. So there.
Still stoked.....
