Default Motor mounts!!?!?!?!?

What are the pros and cons to me putting Kokeln Solid Engine Mounts on my 944. I want to occasional track it, but it will spend most its life on the street. Will i just have more vibration?

Yes, you will have more vibration. They're useful on a track only car.

Dave Lindsey talked me out of them. Too much vibration, and IIRC, they tend to transfer vibration to other parts and break them. Don't recall exactly what those parts were, but it would be a safe bet that you really don't need them unless you have some major GT3 beast or something.

I went with the factory updated version at Dave's suggestion. My car will see 25% street time and 75% PCA F class track time.

Whatever you do, don't cheap out and get the aftermarket mounts. They are junk. Mine went after 6 years and ~20k miles. Not a difficult replacement job but not one you want to do too often.

I decided to go w/ the Lindsey solid mounts. Oddly, Dave didn't try to talk me out of them. At least I'll never have to replace them again.

The word is that the move to solid engine and/or trans mounts has plenty of benefits. The one downside is vibration that will cause many fasteners on the car to back out. If you are going this way, then make sure you take the standard race prep approach. Torque and paint mark every fastener on the car, and check them regularly for movement.

Ahh, but Tony, here's where having a rusty old car (like mine) comes in handy. I view corrosion as Nature's Locktite.
