leaky turbo water pump - but why?
hey, my turbo water pump is leaking. hardcore. and it never used to. i took her out, and its leaking out of the holes that you can see through in the plastic right next to the metal. i am attaching a picture of what im talking about. the coolant most definitely is coming out of the holes shown on the left side. if you take the cap off the bottom, you can see that theres no seal to keep coolant from moving up past the impeller and out the holes.
is it supposed to be like this? how can i fix this? and how does it do this all of the sudden?

The pumps are always on ebay, someone on the list might have a spare. You could bypass it but you're going to have to make up your own three way hose assy to mate to the "Y" on the turbo cooling. I just sold one on ebay a couple of months ago for $45.

Yes, pull the relay or fuse to it. It only leaks when the pump actually runs?
It sounds like the holes might be some kind of "blow out" plugs; I've seen them before on actual mechanical water pumps to control where the coolant "blows out" should the pump sieze or otherwise fail. Looks like new pump time. Sorry.

the pump leaks once the thermostat at the water pump opens up. i dont have the pump wired to run at the moment.
bret, why would i need a Y? id just patch between the inlet and outlet hoses.
