Default Has anyone ever heard of this?

Okay, so this guy I know claims there's some ungodly fast Porsche that's illegal to import to America. He said it was called the Zinder, or Zander, or Xander, or Xinder. However, I have never heard of it, nor could I find out any information online. Has anyone ever heard of this, and if so, do you have any specs or photos.

Thanks.

You wouldn't happen to mean the Dauer street version of the 962 race car, would you?

Dunno if this link works, if not, just go to http://www.mobile.de, click "suchen" and select Porsche from the menu, type in 962 and hit "suche starten" ...

Also you can try googling for "Dauer 962"

Here is the link to the official Dauer website:
http://www.eb110.de/

The company converted a couple of ex-racer Porsche 962 to street specification. They also bought the rights to produce the Bugatti EB110 after the Bugatti company went bankrupt (again).

A couple of close friends visited them 2 years ago and were welcomed with champagne and a factory tour...

Zender is a German tuner company, they've been around for awhile and have dabbled in "concept" cars. I'm not aware of any tuning they used to offer for Porsches (they deal with Audi/VW/SEAT/Alfa now).

Jesus, I don't know how much more acceleration the human body could take before you start getting bruises and such! LOL
What is amazing is that the Carrera GT is roughly 2 tenths of a second short of the 962's stock production acceleration. This is 20 years down the road, but who would have imagined that even possible. To drive a car that fast on the road.
Best part is, the GT costs you roughly HALF of that...
what WHAT WHAT!?!?!?!?!

The 962 was not designed to go 0 to 60......
Most road race cars will not do exhibit great 0 - 60 times, especially the high down force cars, the suspension is too stiff for good low speed traction adn the gearing is not optimized.

Check out the quarter-mile times between a 962 and the C-GT, or cornering or braking. There's no comparison... I still want to get a new 962 from that guy in Canada that's building them from scratch...

Hmm, according to the website of the Dauer 962LM (http://www.962lm.com) the road version has the following performance figures:
0 - 100 kph: 2.6 sec
0 - 200 kph: 7.2 sec
Topspeed: 404 kph

This is not just 2 tenth of a second, but more than a full second faster than the Carrera GT and that with 2 KKK26 turbos.

962s are just sic. I can remember going to Sebring, Daytona, Road Atlanta, at one time St. Pete. and Tampa. Those were the great days of IMSA. Its just not the same anymore. Or maybe it all seemed so much cooler and better when you are only 8 years old.
