951 caliper differences?
hey...are there any differences in the '86 951 and '88 951 non-M030 option brake calipers? i have an extra set of calipers off an '86 951 that i was thinking of rebuilding/refinishing and then fitting them on my '88 951 - this will keep me from dismantling my '88 (it's my daily driver at the moment and I need it on the road). If there are major differences and i will benifit from keeping the '88 calipers - then I'll wait and rebuild the '88's this winter when the snow is piled to high for her to get out of the garage!
thanks

Actually, I think all of the non-M030/non-S4 4-pistion calipers will fit the standard 951/968 cars. The only difference is that the piston diameters of the 87+ front calipers (maybe the rears, too?) are a couple of MM larger. There's a couple of posts in the archives with the exact diameters of the pistons for each MY.
FWIW, I have a set of front 968 non-M030 calipers on my 86 951. They fit fine.
HTH.

Really? I always thought that the 86' was different, as all the big red setups require special adapters and the 87+ do not.
