Default New 944 Turbo Owner

Hello everyone,

I just bought an 86 951. It is Guards Red, has 110K and is in very good shape.
The mods I know of so far are Autothority Maf Kit (K&N + Chip), S.S. Turbo back exhaust, Koni yellows, sachs clutch, and a strut bar. The records show a recent timing belt and water pump as well as a host of small items. On most cars I wouldn't consider this very heavily modded, but it definitely is not running anywhere near stock numbers. I'm not sure how fast the mods I've listed make it, but I can get to 80 really quick. Heading out to the track tomorrow to find out and the autoX next weekend.

This car puts a smile on my face in a way that no other car I've ever owned does and I've had some fast cars. Like a 20G equipped GSX, RX7 TurboII, ect.
I'm going to have to get a radar detector now though since cruising at 60 feels like about 30 and I seem to get up to 80 without really trying.

Welcome to a never ending list of priceless information for your new car. And yes i have driven many cars over the last few years of ownership of my 951 and nothing YET has come close to how it feels
Enjoy

Very nice example... welcome to Rennlist.

That 951 of yours will be your latest and greatest addiction. Beamz's words are spot on for so many of us.

Looks nice!

Are you sure it has a MAF, or just a chip and filter?

Thanks guys. I've got a receipt for an Autothority Maf kit that was $1700. That is kinda pricey, but I'm not arguing with the results. The car absolutely flies. The stock 0-60 time is listed in the low 6s and it is nowhere near that now. I can overpower the tires just by flooring it in second. It has been too long since I've been able to step out the tail just by romping on the gas (gotta love FWD). I'm loving it.

I need to find the original owner and wring a mods list out of him. It has been very well taken care of.

Nice car and welcome to Rennlist.

Just as a comparison, I have the same basic engine mods and put 276lb.ft and 240rwhp. Yours should be in the same ballpark.....

Cool thanks for the info. It looks like the previous owner shopped at Paragon a lot. I wonder if he was on rennlist. It really looks like I have the 3" turbo back exhaust from there and the Brey Krause strut tower bar. Piecing together a mods list from visual inspection and some receipts is fun.

Let's see the engine bay. Where was the car located?

Nice, welcome. I have a friend with the same mods, and my car has similar mods. Night and day difference between afm and maf. Congrats and I agree with earlier statements nothing puts a smile on my face like driving my car. I love every minute of it.

I'm in Iowa. The last owner I think was from Wisconsin.

I'm from Cedar Rapids. I went to UNI for a couple of semesters. It is a pretty nice place, but didn't have a great engineering school so I transferred.

Nice avatar. Wish I could get a signed autograph from him.

There's a guy with a burgandy 951 from Ames, Iowa that post on Rennlist pretty regularly. He goes by Ben Z.
