Tall drivers + Helmets

Tall drivers + Helmets
Not sure weather you guys can help, but basically I do not fit in my car with a crash helmet on. I have to recline the seat and move it back, leaving me in a undesirable driving position.
I am only just over 6'2", but my height comes from my waist up - my arms and legs are relativly normal though! (I dont look like a freak)
I have tried sitting in bucket seats but the upright position doesn't help too much.
I have a 1990 Turbo with electric height adusters, is there any way to engineer the seats to go lower? I think I might try a motorsport steering wheel that moves the steering wheel closer to the driver.
Any help is appreciated.

I have tried manual and electric seats and the manual seats are lower by 1-2 inches (at their lowest setting). If you have sunroof it helps a little to raise it and if your arms are long enough or you can extend the steering wheels your helmet will fit in the indentation of the sunroof liner.

I replaced my stock electric seats w/ Sparco Evo II seats on sliders and gained an inch or two. Removing the bottom padding gives me more room.
One of my next upgrades is an aftermarket steering wheel to place it closer to my body.

I'm 6'3" and am having problems fitting with my helmet as well.
Glad to hear that one can save a few inches with the Evo 2. How about Sparco Torinos? I'd like to have a tilting seat, if possible. The dimensions are slightly different...

I had the same predicament. I also baught a Evo 2(Sparco) seat with rails, but after taking some careful measurements, the Evo 2 with rails, gave me the same height as the factory electric seat. So to solve the problem, I bolted the seat directly on the floor, to gain the extra head room that my 6' body needed (all in the torso as well).

I went to the recaro SDR seat to replace the stock electric seats
I am only 5 10 and all my height is really in my torso .
I did what MySwiss did and bolted the seat directly with an old recaro seat bracket
Not the new one that came with the new seat but an older one. The new one didn't afford me the clearance I needed
It worked out great.
Good luck

I have Kirkey Road Race deluxe seats with the Kirkey aluminum brackets. I ended up bolting the side brackets directly to the floor. I had to drill new holes in the side bracket but was able to use existing screw holes in the floor. The passenger side is the same seat but on sparco rails. That did not give me quite enough headroom so I went without the rails on the driver. It's a 17 inch seat and fit well with stock mounting holes.
