Default Updated: Selling my rear-ended 86 951 - $2.5k obo

Edit: I've lowered the price to $2500. I'm still not parting it out so don't ask!!!!!

Here are all the pics I have

1986 Porsche 944 Turbo. It was rear-ended at about 30 mph and I was slightly pushed into the car in front of me. Insurance company deemed it totalled, but they only quoted the value in the high 6's/low 7's (yeah I kinda got screwed). I was hoping to get about $2.5k obo for it. This is what it has on it & has been done in the 2 1/2 yrs I've owned it:

Goodies:

-Guru Racing 18 psi chip kit (3 bar fpr, boost control, chips, removed cycling valve)

-Guru Racing Wastegate

-Zeitronix ZT-2 WB02 kit (I never had the chance to get the o2 sensor working but the RPM and TPS logging work so far. I talked to Zeitronix and they said they'd give full customer support to whoever bought my car). It comes with an LCD display. The o2 bung is already on the car as well.

-Thermal coated test pipe with cat shell welded on the outside.

-New Yokohama AVS ES100's all around (225 frnt 245 back I believe) on the stock phone dials. I had these tires for 1-2 months & they're barely worn.

-A-pillar boost gauge with an extra space for another gauge.

-Replaceable ball-joints from SSI Auto

Other stuff:

-Did the belts, rollers, water pump, seals, etc about a year ago

-Replaced master & slave brake cyls

-Car has about 125k on it

-No cracks in dash

-Overall the leather is pretty good although there is one tear in the passneger side bolster, about 2 inches in length.

-I have a stereo installed that I will probably be taking. I used a harness so it should be easy to put back the old one. I can look for it if you wish.

-Unkown alarm system. I only know it's there because it chirps when I disconnect/reconnect the battery. Otherwise it doesn't do anything.

-Replaced spark plug wires a few months ago.

I also have:

-The stock cat pipe section

-Car cover

-Spare set of axles (they need new cv's)

Issues:

-It has a bit of a fluctuating idle when it's cold since the last time I had the belts adjusted. I think they may be too loose but I'm not positive. It goes away when the car's warm

-Driver side electronic lock doesn't work but the manual does.

-Cam tower gasket has a small leak.

Damage from accident:

-Rear quarter panels bent & will need to be replaced.

-Rear bumper is now angled downwards.

-Slight nose damage from where I was pushed into the car in front of me.

-Exhaust seems to be bent a bit but I haven't had a chance to look.

-I hear some rubbing sounds which my mechanic tells me is probably the torque tubes. The transmission seems fine as it goes easily into all the gears.

I have receipts & records for pretty much all the work.
Please help me buy a new 951
Thanks.

I'm not interested in selling the parts, for now it all goes as a whole

I'm a little confused - why are you selling it for $3k when the insurance co. will give you $6k for it ?

If the insurance co. isn't uprating the price for the mods, why not strip it back to stock then take their $6k ?

The insurance company quoted it as a low value, therefore it's easier for them to claim it as totalled and give me some cash than to spend money to repair it. I took the money they gave me and bought the car back from them for a cheap price. I figured I could get more selling it here and perhaps it would go to someone who needs it - it works out better for both of us.

The way to think about insurance company is to separate the total/not total decision from buy back salvage/walk away decision.
1) they say your car is worth $6K (plus tax) -- they give you $6k for your trouble
2) they offer the salvage to you for another number (maybe $2k) -- you can decide to buy the wreck if you think it's worth it -- which it often is if you have upgrades/mods.

If the insurance company won't put the value of the mods into consideration, your best alternative is to buy back the salvage (at a price that doesn't include the mods) so you can sell it at a higher price.

Have you had an estimate on damage? It looks very similar to what happened to me. They didn't need to replace the rear quarters, just put it on a jig and pulled it straight. Total cost was about $3500 US. And this was by a very high end collision shop (the do all the work for the Ferrari dealership, have Rolls Royces, Bentleys, and antique Jaguars in their shop). My car ended being way nicer after than before. Might be worth fixing your car, though if your transmission and torque tube took a hit, I'd check into that (mine were not touched).

I know you said all together, but. . .

If parted, I'd be interested in the chipset and related items, along with the gauge pod.
