Who has best prices on K27/6 turbos?
#46
All I know is, that a stock K26#6 hits peak TQ/HP @ 3500/5800 & Turbo S K26#8 is 4000/6000. I'm used to the Turbo S, but, I'd rather have the peak at 3500 like regular turbo- I've seen dynos of K27#8's peaking several hundred rpms lower than stock regular turbos though, so, that's MORE than good enough for me, plus, the PEAK HP is higher- Cervelli used to say you could pump an extra 20HP+ from a 27#8 over K27#6, all other things being equal- that's a lot to me- sure, it's always going to be a few hundred rpms, higher, but, I guess it depends on what you're used too- I was used to holding my own w/an 89 Integra- 103TQ @ 5500rpm & 118HP @ 6700.... By contrast, my STOCK Turbo S is a LOW-END-TQ-MONSTER! I've pulled 5.7 0-60's out of the hole w/mild launches & run 14.4's @ the 1/4 @101 w/slow-lift-granny-shifts.... This adds up perfectly, as I recently outran a new 350Z on the freeway- one of my biggest pet-peeves is people saying these cars run well at high speeds, but, can't hold their own down low- the cars are RIGHT where they are supposed to be- they're perfectly proportional from 80-140 to what their 0-60 times would indicate... They're just a little harder to launch than some cars, &, shouldn't be lauched often, unless you have the $ to play.... I say this b/c the K26#6 AND #8 are both pretty well sized for the stock cars- I would agree that the #6 is a better fit at the beginning, but, I'd argue that the #8 is can be just as good, if not better, when more boost is applied, better wastegate, exhaust, etc....
BTW- when places like Broadfoot, Scott Gomes, etc, do aftermarket turbos, like, Turbonetics, Garret's, etc- do they use KKK center sections???

Tough to beat for the money (on a stock engined car).

- chips designed for the k27
- maybe a new J-boot
- shorter water temp sensor
what else is needed?
Larger injectors? If so, what size?
