Ok, bare with me guys, my car is an '86 and i raised the blow cover to check those resistors. I couldn't fine any wire/resistor/connection on the passenger side area of the blower (as described above).

Alengyel: Do you have a picture or diagram showing where the resistor is located for the '86 cars? I am cleaning out the grounds tomorrow morning (saw 3 that were corroded like mad) and would like to check/replace/clean the fan's resistor as well. Even a PET diagram or page number would be greatly appriciated

I do not, I pulled my entire glove box out to fix the very large hole that had rusted. While I was under the dash I notice a wire that should be connected to something just hanging there. It's an aluminum frame with two ceramic resistors about 2" in diameter. The wire not to the resistor but to a small round switch of some sort next to the resistor but mounted on the same aluminum frame. I parked the car last night and popped the hood as I always to vent the motor and noticed that only the driver’s side fan was operating.

OK, I removed the glove box to get to my 86' specificly mounted resistors.
It turned out that one of the wires was bent over and the insulation was up against the other terminal. After 18 years of heat and rubbing it finally wore thru the insulation. I bent it back out of the way and it's working fine now.
Since the circuit needed the 9 ohms of resistance, and it was getting none, the motor wouldn't fire.

I removed the battery, nothing there

I removed the glove box, still couldn't find any resistors

Sorry guys, i need more help to finding the resistors for the fans in a '86 car real sorry about this

Step 1 become a contortionist
Step 2 crawl on your back and stick your head as far as you can under the pass footwell.
Step 3 look up.

It's mounted under the battery tray behind your glove box.

Jason: Sticking my head under there and behaving like an acrobat finally made me see them. The two white circular resistors. But wires look clean, but i want to replace them anway. I checked the PET cd and couldn't find them, do you have a part number?

Why do you want to replace them, are your fans not working?

When these resistors get hot don't they cause a on/off/on/of fan operation? that's what i read on the PCA forum....

That would explain what was happening the one of the novice guys at my last autocross. His fan's keep going on/off/on/off I thought it was just possesed by the devil.....who'da thunk it.
