Car just doesn't seem fast

I have always had fast cars and to be honest when a car will run 11s at a drag strip it is bordering on too fast for the street. I had a Camaro in college that ran 10.8s on street tires. If there was a black cloud in the 50 mile radius is stayed at home. It was basically undriveable in any condition besides perfect. I have a general rule of thumb: 13s you are quick enough to take most anything on the street (I dont street race but I have participated in a hard launch once or twice and seen what shows up at the strip), 12s you will probably not lose often if you are into that kind of thing, 11s and you should be checking your "competition" for slicks if they are faster (see also burn outs that make NO tire noise), below 11 sec and the car is no longer fun to drive around town.
There really is such a thing as too fast in a street car. The characteristics of a very very fast car (and sub 11 seconds is VERY VERY fast for a full bodied car) just dont go well with daily driving. Aside from the mechanical wear and tear daily driving puts on a car, they dont generally do certain things well. Then again some people like raw, my last 944 was bare inside down to the metal, ultra hard suspension, etc.
Just for information the Supra was NOT my car, just belonged to a friend.

Stephen for which car, are you referring to V944gods car? I probably have some around somewhere for the Camaro, dont think I still have any for the Supra, like I said it wasnt mine.

Supras are know to be wily on drag strips. IRS isn't ment for drag launches. Popular saying in the Mustang world is "900HP Supra: Runs high 11's".
Not knocking Supras, there are a much better all-around car than most anything else. They are one of the main reasons the 928 went the way of the dino.
Easy to make big numbers.

Time for you to graduate to the Carerra GT- pal! You are obviously spoilt with an insatiable appetite for boost disorientation. Sorry, you are terminal- for there is no known treatment... just life therapy now!

Its called tolerance- and all addicts(Porsche. or otherwise-) get it. We get spoiled with something until it no longer becomes exciting....then we go through changes, in an attempt to attain the sensation of that "first high". Who needs recovery....when therapy is just a key turn away?

I know exactly what you mean, ever since I got my license, and I had been driving it more, the "kick" just went away. Hell, for a while I thought it was a boost/suspension issue.
Its a mental thing

I've had the same experience. It just doesn't feel all that fast after a while, until you hop back into another car. When I drive a 540i sport after a couple of days in this car, it feels like a dog. My old Taurus, crown vic, and mustang company cars were a real contrast.

If you start to feel your car is getting "slower" just do what I do. Find the slowest car around you can. Put the 944 up for a few days, do maintenance, get anything that has been bugging you. Dont drive it for a week or two. Then when you have all the little crap squared away get back in and drive. It'll feel fast. Especially compared to a 1998 Mazda 626 4-banger that barely runs.

Running 20psi w/ water injection on a Vitesse stage II. For a while I too thought it was loosing power, I just been running round in my buddies C5, when the novelty of the low end torque wears off, I was left in search of that crazy mid range punch I get from my car. Same thing with my wifes 540 sport. Getting in the 951 after running in the C5 is very telling. Kind of got a new found respect for my car now... I realized the car is fine, its a head **** thing.

I agree with the previous posts all the way... I'm glad I have the S10 to keep my ***-dyno in good calibration ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
v944god... why don't you just go drive the 944 around for a while to do the same thing? EDITTED AFTER RE-EXAMINING THE POST![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Matt... good Lord man, how did you manage to wiggle your way behind the wheel of a 1300hp Supra?? I have buddies that have no qualms with letting me tool around in their 550whp cars... but more then doubling that?! I think they'd cut me off no matter what experiences I had previous to that. The guys I know that have high-buck, high-power performers wouldn't let Michael Shumacher behind the wheel of their beasts. I don't consider them very close friends though, haha. But seriously, how'd you manage to score that ride? I think we're all fuming jealous at this point!
