Default Engine swap... now tach doesn't work

Hey...

I sold my factory manuals some time ago. I have a buddy that swapped his engine in his 951. He finished the job, everything works properly... but the tach is dead.

Who knows what would cause this? A reference sensor on top of the bell housing?

Thanks in advance,

TonyG

If the car runs it wouldn't be the speed or reference sensors.

Check DME pin # 21. This goes to connection point 4-pin terminal 2 of the tach.

Could be that when the reference sensor mounting bracket was bolted back on the bell housing it wasnt replaced correctly. The bracket can swivel on one of the 2 bolts such that it aligns the correct distance from the flywheel. Too far off and it wont sense. Hope this helps

How long did you run the car?
I've had mine die before (after letting it sit for a while), but it came back after 15 minutes or so.
(maybe it was "stuck"?)
My boost controller and shift light still worked, so I know the voltage was correct.
