Not sure if this helps any but I'm running a Kokeln (Garret) T3/T4 that is oil cooled only. The turbo has about 100K and feels like it has many miles ahead of it though I haven't measured the tolerances to verify this. I do use Mobil 1 15/50 and let the car idle at least a minute before shut down and around 5 mins after a hard run. The only reason I went this route is because at the time no one made a Garret with a KKK hotside like they do now.

Im runing a KKK/Garrett Hybred with oil only. I took this recommendation from Kokeln. Their test have shown that the turbo can dump very hot coolant into the motor causing increased head temps. Having a front mount oil cooler will help keep oil temps down from the turbo. You also loose coolant hoses and turbo water pump, one less thing that can leak. You just have to keep up on the warm up and cool down more.

Well I don't know why you guys are concerned about water temp! On my 951 water heat's up soon but since I mounted an oil temp gauge - I think oil temp is an issue. First the oil won't even have reached 50 degree C and water temp shows green ligth. Depending on how hot or cold it is outside it takes more or less time to get those 70 degree Celius oil temp when the engine is ready for some more than just below 3000 rev's. In the winter it is possible not to reach 70 in the summer it may happen readings over 110 degree Celcius while water temp reads only a short time in the third third and will drop just to optimal temp.
In my opinion water temp is not but oil temp is a concern?
Have you guys oil temp gauges?
kind regards Frank

Porsche did run the watercooling in order to ensure the life of turbo's. Cars right off of the showroom floor have a bad habit of running super hard, and then just shutting the car off. The hot oil stays in the turbo, causing it to solidify, ruining the turbo. The water cooling simply takes this issue away. Everything I have ever worked with: BMW M3 Turbo, RX-7 TT, Supra Single Turbo, Mitsubishi GST, Mistubishi EVO, Turbo Impreza, Turbo Celica...and some more have never had water cooling. Provided, most of those turbo's are done with around 50k miles, or start to see there worse days, 50k miles is a lot. To me, the added benefit of keeping the coolant cooler would be enough for me to do away with the lines. As to oil heat, my oil temp shows normal, and okay after and auto-x or trackday.

So the 9 million dollar question, does anyone have pictures they could post? I would like to see the routing etc as well as what you used to block the oil lines.

Some odd arguments out there –
If you are concerned about your water temps – fix you coolant system. My old (435 hp) motor would run at the first white line all day at Watkins Glen (with water cooled TO4E).
The oil temps are a little different issue! They needed to be addressed. The KISS cooler helped but the temps are still warm!
If you guys believe that it is better to put the heat into the oil then you better check your oil temps first!! 951 all run quite high oil temps on the track.
Track experience also shows that a water cooler turbo (944) out lives an oil cooled (911) turbo by about a 3 to 1 factor. Not a great comparison since they are different engines but somewhat valid anyway.
