Default I don't know where to post this

Before I ask a bunch of questions in which the answers will shatter my dreams please note that I am trying to accomplish 3 things:

1. Ship my car to Europe
2. Sell my car there
3. Live a dream of visiting Europe
4. Buy and ship a cool European car

a few things that must happen to accomplish this:

1. the price of the shipping must be made up in profit of the car's sale
2. there must be a market for my car to sell

I sorta want to sell my car.
I would right now but I will not get my money bakc out of it.
It needs a bunch of dents removed, a new paint job, shocks, etc.

Now as I understand it, Porches sell for more in Europe.
How much more?

Is there a market for LHD Porsche's in Europe?

How much would it be to ship it?
Is there a two way discount?

My dreams will be smashed in 3..................2...................1.......................

I'd say keep dreaming.

You're not going to make any serious profit by selling a US spec car in Europe because US spec cars are "de-tuned" to meet US emissions standards, and other changes are made to the chassis to meet US safety standards. Add to that the fact that your car needs to have some repairs lowers it's value even more.

Additional downsides are import duties/fees, inspection/registration fees (Great Britian is BRUTAL about safety issues), and so on.

On the return trip you will run into the same issues, only worse. Bringing a European spec car to the US is an even larger PITA.

I's say keep the car, take your vacation in the States, use your "savings" to bring your car back to life, and then DRIVE IT!

You cant bring a European spec car back from Germany without converting it first. My first Porsche was a Euro spec 944 NA, which I had to sell before I moved back stateside as it would have cost around $8K to convert it... so I just bought the first American spec 951 I saw for sale in Germany.
I have also NEVER seen a 951 for sale in Germany that was Euro specs, so I am sure that would make your search rather difficult, plus, noone would want an American spec Porsche in Germany (unless you sold it to another American who wanted to bring it back with them)...

I'm not worried about the car being taken back, whatever it is it will probabley be a track car.

what is the exchange rate?

they didn't seem to be that much more expensive over there, at least on that link provided.

couldn't it be a plus that it has met extra safety requirements for someone who wants to track the car?
it pretty much is a track car right now anyway.

Quit smoking so much pot, get a job and you could probably afford the trip to Europe in no time.

exchange rate right now the $ is worth .78 euro. and steady going down.
being in the military, i have a lot of soldiers look at the car and ask if i got it here, nope. us spec. compliments but after telling them that's the car is an attention ***** and maint is gonna be a kiiler, i try to maintain the basics of the car so that saves some, plus these young troops doesn't value their property all they see is p-car + autobahn.
i'm with Cliff, save the car, money and trouble of bringing the car here.
since you're tracking the car you already a step ahead.
take a trip to europe and you can get a hooptie 25 yrs or older does not require any conversion to us spec.

don't smoke pot, worked 9 hours today laying carpet, and am trying to balance:

fixing up the Pork or buying a house

the conundrum is, I have no bills other than food, gas, cellphone about $100 a month spent. So now is a good time to save to fix the Pork but interest rates are really low and I should get a house, but when I do it will take way longer to fix up the Pork.

Ok, buy a house, start growing pot and you can afford it all.

Sorry for flip comments, but it's all in fun.

Seriously? Buy a house. Can't miss with that advice. Then you can rent it out and travel to europe.

Is your 951 anything special? If not - no chance.
