Who's running Spec Clutch set-up
#2
I have a 6-puck Stage III and have been very happy with it for track usage. It's a little too much for street use I've found as it engages very hard. Be sure to resurface your flywheel when you replace it, though.

Thanks guys for the reply. Like alexand said, it's too much for
street used. The transmission jerks, bites too agressively &
it's near impossible to ride the clutch when it's warm. Makes
you feel as feel you're in a rodeo. I was advice to do a couple
of 2nd gear launch as this would smoothen out the engagement.
Can anyone advice how to run in the clutch correctly & after
running inn, will it be easier to drive on the street ?
Thanks again

I used racing material (used by the local stock car racers) on my clutch for track use, and it was great on the track - very positive engagement, etc. However, it always juddered and vibrated from a standing start, and about a month ago I lost all clutch disengagement on the track, and had to drive it to the shop without using the clutch. Try shifting without the clutch with a semi on your tail. Anyway, turned out to be a broken shift fork, and I think that was caused by the clutch shudder on standing starts, which was impossible to avoid unless you revved the engine and dropped the clutch. I switched to the Cup Clutch, which is much easier on the drive train. Just my experience...

Hi Sam,
It's the stage III. Yes Smokey, with all that shudder & jerking,
I'm kind of worried that it may cause other components to fail
down the line. What I cannot accept is the fact that I was
recommended the stage III after telling the vendor what I was
looking for.

I was recommended the stage II clutch for my application mostly street maybe one track event a year. My main issue with the clutch is it has this sometimes smooth sometimes harsh engagement I purchased the light weight psi plate option and had the fly wheel resurfaced. the first couple months it would chatter alot while starting out. Does not chatter as bad now. Also will buck when shifting sometimes more when it is hot. I purchased the clutch from lindsey racing. The stage I might have been a better choice however I was concerned with the added power from my mods. I figured the stage II would be right judgeing by the information I gathered. I am not complaining it just seems that it takes way too long for the clutch to wear in and I am not sure if it will every really become smoth all in all it seems that its a durable product. One other thing I noticed when shifting is it seems to sometimes grab to quickly

I have Spec stage II lightweight with stock flywheel. Works great, a little chatter when cold but when the engine is warm the chatter disappears. Very driverfriendly to. I think that most of us here dont need any moore than stage II. Before I bought this one I talked to Spec and they say that stage II will hold up to a torque of about 800 nm. Enought to me...
In my earlier cars I have had "pucks" and its fun the first days but then you cant stand it for daily driving.
