Well, it was still harder on it to just sit there and idle that hot. It would of been a lot better to take off so you can get a lot of air moving into the radiator. Would of cooled off in no time even if not, you could of just pulled back over.

Did you have the AC on? That will keep both fans on maximum. Driving the car will cool it down faster than idling it.

The under trays also have heat shields at the back that protect the rear bushing on the control arms from the heat of the crossover pipe.

You would be very wise to reinstall the front lower spoiler.

It's not the disrupted airflow that's the big problem. It's the fact that without the front lower spoiler, air can go around the radiator, rather than through the radiator.

This will make a big difference on a hot day with respect to your car's cooling system effectiveness at speed (infact.. it will make a dramatic difference on the track when you're pushing the car hard.).

Don't run w/o it.

The front lower poiler costs $350+ and the AIR front plitter costs ~$200

So it would be wise to get that AIR splitter

>>>The front lower poiler costs $350+ and the AIR front plitter costs ~$200<<<

The front lower spoiler can be had used for <$150. And.. it bolts right on.

The AIR splitter must be fitted and painted. It's defiinitely going to cost you more by the time you're done (not to mention time).

But either way... anything there is much better than nothing at all. With either one, air cannot go around the radiator... and that is what is important.

TonyG -

I've only seen high prices for the underbody plastic. Mine is cracked, but still in place. I'd spring for a new (intact) one right away if I could get it for $150. Where do I find one for that price?

Also, as an aside, I'm missing the metal heat shield around the oil cooler. I've been told not to worry about it....any comment on this?

Jace:

I've got a batwing that's cracked, but not broken. I just ordered the AIR splitter so I'd be willing to part with my stock unit.

You'll have to watch for people parting cars/wrecked cars to find one. Check the classifieds....

You mean the plastic shroud in front of the oil cooler? You should have this if you plan to track the car.

Just like the bottom spoiler which keeps air from going around the radiator... the oil cooler shroud keeps air from going around the oil cooler... out the side brake duct.

If you're not racing the car... then it's probably no big deal though. (the oil cooler shroud that is...)

Default Batwing

Michelle,

Where / how is it cracked? Might be willing to consider if it's not too bad.
