TonyG - Seeing as you seem to know a lot about what typical power outputs should be with the K27 compressor, could you give me an estimate of my hp output with both a K27/6 and a K27/8, both modified for quick spool-up, with the following mods...

- Siemens 57 lb/hr injectors
- Raceware Head Studs
- Turbonetics 42mm Racegate wastegate
- Lightened flywheel
- Full 3” exhaust
- Light cylinder head mods
- Evolution Motorsports diverter valve
- Custom chip by Promotion
- Wide Fire Head Gasket

EDIT: this is on a freshly rebuilt engine, built and tuned by Promotion Racing

These turbos make about 335RWHP - 350RWHP depending on boost. The -8 will give you another 10RWHP, but will cost you about 500rpms of lag to get it (not worth it IMHO on a street car at those power levels). These numbers are with a MAF/MAP setup.

You're gonna run a good 17-18psi to do it.

A pre-done MAF/Turbo kit/Chips/Controller setup is probably the best way to go for you.

Call Linsdey, SFR, and Vitesse (all have good kits).

Tony its good to have you back, your technical knowledge was missed, should we bring back the Evo vs 951 thread?

Thanks Tony! What about without a MAF/MAP setup? I am assuming I would lose like 15RWHP?

TonyG,

I have lightly mod car. chips, LBE.

The chips do not perform optimally.

Would I be better off to try to get the chips adjusted to work, buy new chips from another supplier, or buy a Piggy Back.

Basically my quetion is, How much difference would a piggy back make with the stock turbo and AFM...is it worth it?

Thanks

Hey...

Yes... I miss that thread. What I really missed is that punk not showing up at the race track.... I was looking forward to give him an old fashion school boy style *** whipping :-)

BTW... that kid blew that Evo motor to smithereens...

Probably a little more. The bigger problem is getting the a/f correct with the stock meter. That's where the MAF/MAP come into play. The stock meter is maxed out. You loose the metering resolution which will limit your abilty to tune the car.

I ran a K27/6 car with a stock meter and piggy back and made around 285RWHP without problems.

The answer with respect to having to replace the chips would depend on exactly what was wrong. "The chips do not perform optimally." is not good enough. What's the exact problem?

And.. .a piggy back will let you fix a lot of problems with chips that are not properly matched to your application. It will also allow you to richen up your fuel mixture as you modifiy yourcar in the future, which is a huge bonus.

I'm not surprised...those Evos are running 22 psi stock......and it seems that Mitsubishi has been voiding peoples warranties if they participate in any form of racing....DE's etc...anyway its good to have you back.....are you driving a 911 now??

Driving a 1982 911SC. Light metallic blue in perfect condition (except the front seats). Just rebuilt the engine... just because it had 105k miles on it and I get a deal on all the parts.

The new engine is back in. Just picked up some 7 / 9 Fuchs for it and a Carrera tail. Then the front spoiler and I'm done.

It never ends....

Hi Tony,
Yes the map is correct & yes it's the turbo
that I'm using now. In reality the correct
model for this turbo is GT25TO4S. The cold
side is standard no other options available.
As for the hotside, it's either a .64 or a .82
housing. The killer part about using this turbo
is the size of the cold side. It is really huge
about 1/2 inch or more over a TO4E housing.
This means that the turbo will have to sit much
lower which dictates the use of many custom
parts or modified parts. I just hope that all the
effort that I've put in will pay off.

I'm using the .82 AR. Sound huge right ?
Wait till you put it next the the K26/6.
They are about the same size. For this
particular turbo, going .64 is too small
for our 2.5, it'll choke the engine to death.
Tony, maybe you should give it a try. I'm
very sure that on a good engine, this turbo
can easily make 360-370 rwhp. Why, by
nature of it's more effecient compressor
design.
