Default Sealing tailights...

I noticed that there is some hgunky resiude on my tailights that is used for sealing them in. Well, about 99% of that gunk is missing on mine (po) and I want them to be in right. What should I use to seal them up properly?

Thanks.

Well if you are talking about the seal between the tailight assembly and the body itself, I removed mine, peeled all the old black sealant out....that is some sticky goo, but makes really hard ***** you can throw at things , then i just got a tube of black silicone sealant of some type from an autoparts store, and with my caulking gun, sealed it up. Worked great.

I just bought the black weatherstrip from the parts store. It's used to go around windshields and runs $12 for 15 feet. Silicone caulking probably won't stick well enough to the paint and plastic to seal out water. The black weatherstrip is permanently temporary too in case you need to replace a light housing.
