hi guys,
new to 944 ownership,
a few questions please.

i have a 86 944 turbo and ive just fitted a 3inch exhaust, prior to that the boost guage wasnt working and it didnt seem to perform as expected.
afterfitting the exhaust i fitted a mechanical boost guage and found it was only boosting to around 8psi, i fitted a bleed and got the boost up to around 10psi in 1 st and about 12-13psi in 2nd and 3rd.

is this a safe boost level and can i go more, the car is dead stock other than the exhaust.

also ive read a bit about replacement maf, what sort of difference would i see with the lindsey racing stage 2 maf.

also would the lindsey chip make a considerable differenece?

thanks dean

Hi Dean!
good to see another Aussie kicking around here Theres only a few of us.
12-13psi is at the upper range for stock chips.
Don't attempt to go any higher without after market chips. The stock KLR interveens and you will run dangerously lean anyhow.
(In addition to lindsey check out www.gururacing.net & www.vitesseracing.com)

MAFs work only in conjunction with custom chips.

I'd suggest the following:
- If you havnt already, eliminate boost / vaccum leaks first, you should be pulling around 16-18psi of vaccum at idle.
- If you want more boost than stock, get a chipset upgrade (chips, FPR, check valve boost controller) and replace or modify your wastegate.
- My expierence would then be to start saving for a new head gasket if you are on the original.
There is an awesome amount of tech and vendor info available via the search on this site. It is really worth having a good read up front.

Yeah, standalone would be awesome. Hey looking at your website makes me want to park a skyline GTR along side the 951. I dig that 1994 NISSAN R32 Skyline GTR in the customer car section "harrys", what sort of performaance & reliability do you get for AUS $30,000 ?
