Default 944 Racing Short Shift Kit Install Problem....HELP!

I just tried to install the 944 Racing short shift kit. I thought it would be no problem, but no. I put it in third gear to remove some of the bolts. Then i put the arm that goes around the rod in place straight up. Everything was going fine until I started to shift. It wouldnt go back at all. It would go foward a bit and straight up but not back! Then when it was forward, it was in neutral, it didnt engage. Then when it was back it straight up it was in 2nd. Please help, I am sooo confused. Thanks

Do it again, this time don't put it in 3rd gear. Put it in neutral. Sounds like you didn't get the rod back in the correct place on the shift kit. There is an indent that the bolt on the main shaft fits into, and you safety wire or use red locktite to secure. If you don't get the bolt in the hole then you'll be way off on the shift pattern (like you are).

good luck!

Dal.
