question for Guru WG owners

I have the Guru gate and a Reliaboost. I can hold 15 PSI up to about 5000 RPM and then it starts dropping. I am pretty sure it is the 26/6 running out of flow because I have seen the WG hold over 18 PSI while I was fine tuning it. The Guru unit has simplicity and stealth. To get the most out of your Tial you would want to use an electronic controller and then you are getting into turbo upgrade territory. Here comes the slippery slope.
Alpine951 - you are welcome to come by and try out my car to see if the Guru WG would be enough for you.

I just picked up my car from the shop. The car is definately faster, boost comes on sooner.
Trying to watch the boostgauge under the radio when boost hits is scary. I'm going on a trip with a few PCN buddies Saturday and wifey will come along. I'll get her to film a bit.
Anyways, the car is much faster. I'm glad the car has a LSD. I can hear the turbo spool up a bit earlier. I can feel boost build quite nicely at ~3.000rpm, but there is still a big jerk (as in power increase) when I hit ~4.000rpm.
I tried to film the gauge with my cellphone, but the results were abit odd. Seems like I hit almost 17psi in 2nd gear and boost drops quickly. In 3rd it holds 18psi much longer. Does any of this sound strange?

Yeah, I blew up a K26/6 turbo trying the same thing. I actually had programmed in a 16->20psi rising boost-curve with an AVC-R. Ran great for a while, but eventually bent the axle after a couple weeks. Must've been a marginal balance job, or maybe some uneven distirbution of carbon on the turbine wheel, who knows. TimmB in New York also recently destroyed a K26/8 turbo trying to push it as well. Personally, I'd measure the lateral and axial run-out on your turbos before attempting to extract high-boost out of it.

Yep, just ordered a new batch with stiffer springs. Was holding off for a little until I got enough cores together; some of them coming back has been unusable.

I guess the fact that you are now installing stiffer springs in your wastegates means that the one you sent me is not good enough?

Sorry, been too busy to update the website. The GURU wastegate has the following:
- rebuilt on stock 39mm core, so directly plug & play installation
- valve-seat ground and lapped for tight seal
- spring upgraded to 1.0-bar (previously 0.75-bar, stock is 0.30-0.35 bar)
Eivind, go ahead and send back your core, I've been giving everyone full-credit for their core-charge. I end up mixing and matching a couple of wastegates together to get a good one anyway. If you find that yours bleeds off more boost than you want, I'll send you a new model with stiffer spring to swap for yours.
