Default how big can you go on the rear of a 951?

I have an 86 951 with phone dials.... right now, it has 245/50/16 on the rear with plenty of room... has anyone gone any larger? or a different size with these wheels?

I run 17x 10's Fikses with 275's with no problem. I believe you can squeeze 295's in also.

The phone rears are 8.5" IIRC, I run 245's I am not sure you can run wider.

I had 275's on my rear once, but one of hte tires would scuff the fender when I got on it, or hit a bump in the road...

The answer is there is no wider tire in a 16 built (except a 265/50/16, which is a V710, and would look goofy as sin, or a 255/50/16 desgined for older Corvettes and would also be too tall).

BTW, the wheel is 8" wide in the rear. Lack of availabilty of wider product is what pushed the market to larger diamter wheels.

The older V700 Victoracers had a 265/45-16 tyre, which was perfect for a 16x10" wheel. Here's a picture of my car with 315/35-17 and 275/40-17 tyres:

I ended up immediately switching to 255/40-17 front tyres because the 1.5" taller than stock 275s would rub the fenders whenever I turned the wheel more than 45-degrees to either side. Not that big a deal on the track, but really annoying trying to get around the pits.

I am running 295 30 18 in the rear of my 86. The rims are 18by11. the wheel offset is 45mm and i run 15 mm spacers and ground fenders at 10 and two. Im running coil overs front/rear- with small springs. No rubbing for me. I did update my car in the front to M030 spindle/hubs/caster (but left early arms to keep early offsett) after my old 17's caused the spindle to fail. I left the rear arms stock. Anyone hear of the rear not being strong enough once you upgrade to monster tires?
Danno, Those are some big tires! Care to share how you got em to fit? Mabe I will try 315 18s once I wear mine out.
