Default Selling 951 / Help with Pricing

I would like to seek the forums assistance in helping me determine a decent price for my 1989 944 Turbo track car. A fourth child (I gotta figure out where they keep coming from!) has finally put me over the edge in terms of the amount of time that I have to dedicate to this sport. As much as I enjoy enhancing, maintaining, and driving this awesome car, family is more important.

Allow me to list out the pluses and minuses of this car:

Plus:
• Very competitive GT-3 car.
• 2.5L engine with zero hours on complete rebuild making 400HP at the rear wheels!
• TEC3 Engine management
• Huge Spearco core intercooler
• New front and rear rotors, new pads, and rebuild calipers (1 event on them)
• Triple master Wilwood brake/clutch system.
• Ferrari F40 front calipers with 13.8” front rotors. Stock rears.
• Moton Club Sport remote canister coilovers. 2 sets of sping for smooth and rough tracks
• Chromo cage from front strut tower to rear pickup points
• Custom well laid out dash
• Charlie A-Arms
• 12x17 Rear wheels, 10x17 front with 17x35x315 GC-CS tires all around.
• Wide body front and rear, but the rear was converted to a 968 bumper cover
• Complete fiberglass body except for doors. Lexan windows all around. Custom paint job
• Large rear wing
• 2300lbs

Minus:
• To run the car at 400hp you must keep up on the maintenance.
• Front end accident about 3 years ago which I put a front clip on to fix. Was not into the suspension at all!
• GT3 car which means there can always be someone with more money and a faster car!
• Run pure 110 Octane fuel for 400HP.

So I am interested in what you all think this car would be worth. I have probably put around $35,000 in just parts and machine work into this car. With the car and what labor I have used, I probably have about $50,000 into the car. I have no allusions of getting anything even close to that, but I also know that no one could build a car this fast for even the price of the parts I purchased.

Instead of attaching all the pictures, I have provided some links also.

Yeah, I am thinking 25-30. There seem to be alot of good race cars out there for sale right now. It would also depend on how solid your 400hp is...like how well it will holdup in race conditions with cooling etc. Who did most of the engine building. Having a builder that is reputable would be a plus to me. Also, spares would be a plus (tires, wheels, engine parts, fiberglass parts). I would ask 35-40k.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find that box with $30k sitting in it at my house...where did I see it last...oh yeah, that was my dreams.

Best of luck-

Max

Yep start at 30k...
and wait. I it may take a while, but that is fair price.

If you need to dump and run 20k

Race cars can be tough, but I think in the $20's, it's a great buy. If it sits a while, I'll trade ya for my 951 and my Spec Miata!

Were you up here for the Milwaukee Spec Miata cup at Road America this past weekend? We had 63 cars take the green flag! I qualified 11th. It was quite the display in my rear view mirror!

I think you'd be hard pressed to get much more then $20k for it. I voted $25k because I think that's about the ceiling for a GT3 951 like this. It's just my opinion, however. You have done a very nice job with it by the looks of the power figures and specs. I especially like the F40 calipers! Nice touch. Best of luck with the sale.

I am sorry maybe I am a idiot here.....but, what is up with your bov. It looks like a lindsey unit but, it's on the turbo to intercooler pipe???? wtf??

Oh btw nice car and I would think 30k would be the absolute most you could get for it. 25k would probably be very do-able as long as you are willing to wait for the buyer to come along.

shame to see her go, but i'm sure it will fetch somewhere in the 30s if you are willing to wait a bit.

If it's venting to atm., it doesn't matter were you place the BOV as long as it's somewhere between the turbo-outlet and the throttle-body.

Hey, does the F40 calipers use the same brake-pads as the 951???

The F-40 caliper (AFAIK) actually has a smaller leading piston than the 951 caliper, dont know why you would upgrade to that. For all intents and purposes it is the same as a 951 caliper. They do not use the same pad according to Pagid, but that could be compound differences rather than pad design.
