Well if you want to get offered a deal and pay for the engine yet never get it ask Mochoman. I think he has an engine he has sold but never parted with. My uncle payed him for this engine over a month ago and he is not returning calls or emails. I would be very careful about buying from someone. I like to think that people here in our comunity are honest and will do what they say. But if I were you go with someone reputable. And really work out the payment options and pickup.

Well sorry I did not post it, but thats what he did. He did not loose the complete price. But as you know an engine for our cars is not cheap....
There is no easy way to avoid a scam. But I think people on the list should know so they dont have the same problem. Thing is that the guy uses the list pretty often and seemed legit. So you never know..... I guess you are only as good as your word. And to some people they are not very good at all...

That's for sure, you never know. I'd never pay anything up front to someone I didn't know pretty well, unless it was an e-bay deal.
It would be cash on the barrel after inspection.

How much for just a 951 engine block? Does any company make reproduction 951 blocks?
I have seen a few on ebay but most of the ones I seen look like some one crapped all over it.

Last year there were some new 3 litre 968 blocks for sale in Toronto, but they're gone. Some people were laughing at the price, I wish I'd had the cash to pick one up.

I will be pulling my motor out in 1 or 2 months to put in a 3.0 liter. I have a 2.5 that was just rebuilt in April 2004 by Bauer porsche in Oakland Ca. It has a lightened, knife edge crank, wide fire head gasket, a 944N/A cam shaft, other than that it is stock. All lifters, bearings, belts etc. were changed etc. I will be selling that motor as a long block (complete block w/head AND exhaust manifold!). It has about 10 hours on it as I ran it in my track car for PCA D.E. events. I cannot tell the mileage since there is no speedo. I am running 15lbs boost and it makes about 310-315 RWHP. Alrthough the motor is still very fresh, I want to pull it early so I have enough time to get the 3.0 liter in and get it tuned before next season. I paid $4,500 just for the rebuild. and that was with me bringing the engine to him out of the car......
I will probably be looking for $3k or so when I sell it.
SO I agree with the "$1500 good used engine, give me all you have"
