My point was that is not an original 86 manifold without the accordians, which is what Wes was pointing to as the failure.

When you said that a/c ratio was 11.5~12.5, the 12.5 is the perfect ratio, for our cars anyway.

Running a tad rich should cause this, even on high boosts.

Those are not the updated manifold from PORSCHE. I have an 86 and they don't look like that......

Wes, no problem, just pointing out that the reason for the replacement was the little accordians you see there. They were not on the 86 originally.

It IS the upgraded manifold, because it has the accordian joint to allow for expansion. It looks different from yours because there's no heat shield on it now.

Claus, someone asked if this manifold had been wrapped. Was it, or did you just remove the heat shield to find the crack?

Mine cracked as well plus my buddies manifolds cracked, seems to be a common problem for our cars. Your cracks seem to be the worst I have ever seen. I went ahead and purchased the SFR headers which have a lifetime warranty from cracking to prevent this from happening again.

I just removed the factory heat shield. It did not have additional wrap.

I have an additional set of headers that I will send for 2000 degree thermal coating and I am removing the heat shields today to inspect them.

Dan87951, did you wrap over the ceramic coating?

You people in the states are lucky.

NO ONE here does thermal or creamic coatings. Talked to my specialist, looks like thermal wraping is the only way to go.

Its a dirty job......but it's cheap, but some thermal wrap and customise it the way i want to .

Shucks i feel so bad that we don't have access to certain but effective things for protection/upgrades here.

Hosrom, IIRC, there is a place in Jeddah that does the thermal coating. I can ask my dad if he remembers the name of the place. There are others I am sure, can certainly look if you want me to. Send shwarma for payment, they are awful here :>)
