I ended up with the Da'Lan hitch and got it through U-Haul. It is designed to work with the lower valence on a 944 Turbo. No problems installing it. I got a trailer from Harbor Freight and made it into a tire trailer. Fun project except for a grounding issue with the trailer wiring. It also gets more expensive once you include all of the hardware, ball hitches, locks, etc. The final result works well and is a good alternative if you can't justify a tow vehicle.
Thanks,
Mark

It was a ways back. If my memory serves me correctly ...
1) The hitch cost over $200. There might be better places to get it.
2) Trailer around $200, think I got it on sale, also got spare tire $20

3) Lumbar, bolts, etc cost around $50 if not more, I got the more expensive treated wod
4) I had to get a different drawbar for the proper height, also got locks for hitch and trailer, lets say $30 total
5) Rachet stap, lock to slide through tires, $30
6) Wiring for car $15
7) Plastic tool chest ($40-$50)
You get the idea, starts to add up. I based the design on this ...

I did not build the angled iron structure that goes up and over the wheels. I have a long steel wire lock (like for locking patio furniture) from Walmart. I think it's 9 feet. I have larger diamter PVC pipe going through the wheel so the lock loops can slide through. I run this through the wheels and under the trailer. It just fits. It's my back-up if the tire tie down strap fails. It will hold the tires to the trailer. Having the additional structure as shown in the link would be even better.
I originally got a cheaper tie down rachet strap from Harbor Freight. It was no good. It stretched and it would slide on the tires. I ended up getting a thicker more expensive one. It's way to long but I just route it into the chest.
