Default Danno, what falling boost curve do you use?

Danno,
What is the curve for the falling boost of the k26/6 18psi chips that you use. The reason I ask is that I think my k26/6 might be really tired compared to the curve that you use.
I am getting a bit of black smoke at the higher rpms.

My boost curve is something like this:
2 2.5 3 3.5 4 4.5 5 5.5 6
0 12 17 18 18 16 13 12 10

Well not exact but close.

My guess there isn't much I can do, but get it on a dyno to see for sure.
I suppose one option is to get EBC, if I go that route what do you recommend for the boost curve. I want to match what you programmed.
I've never looked into EBC, I guess they are some sort of a time proportional controller using a PI or PID loop control with a three way soliniod to control??
Thanks,
Jason

How many miles do you have on your turbo and is your wastegate original? Are you using any type of boost controller now (reliaboost, lebe, etc)?

What you mau be seeing is your wastegate failing to hold boost. I'm experiencing the same thing and believe it's the wastegate. Of course, the turbo could be failing as well.

Jason, on the latest 18psi chips, I anticipate an 18 -> 15psi boost-curve. Seems to be the most common. But depending upon the car, I also program a flat 18psi curve as well (TurboS and aftermarket wastegate).

Yah, I think your turbo may be going. The 184K-mile one I once had with a bent axle would have a boost-curve of 18->15psi by redline. With an electronic controller, I was able to force it to go in the opposite direction, 18psi in the mid-range and 20psi by redline to compensate for the dropping torque-curve, but I think that may be what finally did it in...

110k on the turbo, but the WG is a new Tial38 w/ a Reliaboost.

I believe the turbo is just tired.

I just picked up a 86k k26/6 from emwporsche (thanks Eric) and am going to send it in for a k27/6 upgrade and then will get Danno to burn some new chips (is it still $100 for a reburn?)

Yep, I think so too, as it defiently drops below 15 at redline. On the way home from Seattle, as I was destroying a WRX I saw 12psi at around 6k.
Thanks guys!
Jason
