Default Engine Wiring Harness Info/Search?

A local car shop asked me if I had any information on how/where to find an engine wiring harness for an ’86 944 Turbo.

I have seen some thread traffic here looking for wiring harnesses, and thought I would ask if there is much of a market finding these? I would assume that most salvage yards and guys parting out cars would usually sell the engines complete and would not want to part with the just the wiring harness.

Also to complicate things, according the PET there is a different part number for each year car, and they do not supercede the previous part.

86 Turbo 951 607 021 00 for >> 44G 00400
86 Turbo 951 607 021 00 for M45G 0001 >>
87 Turbo 951 607 021 02
88 Turbo 951 607 021 03
89 Turbo 951 607 021 06
90 Turbo 951 607 021 08 (Canada)

Anyone know if these wiring harnesses are interchangeable to some/any degree?

Any help or info is appreciated, thanks.

The 86 cars and some early 87 cars had the same harness, then later in 87 the car got an oil level low indicator in the oil pan and one more pc added to the harness. This remained the same until the cars stopped production I believe, well US cars anyway to 89,,IIRC. My 87 does not have the oil low level switch but our 87 track car does.

Harnesses:
They're in the classifieds sometimes, eBay, 944 ecology, Oklahoma Foreign come to mind. $150 to $500, depending on mileage. I have a brand new one in the box that I bought off ebay two years ago but it's not for sale. There was someone here who had a 27k one for $275 a few months ago but I think he sold it.

I modified an 86 harness to suit my 87 car, it was no bid deal. There is some info on one of my pages - the fire page I think.
