Question Dyno'd my car today...

I went to a quick dyno day at a local tuner today and my numbers seem a little low for Guru chips + Tial + 16psi + no cat.

Peak of 225-230hp and 250 ftlbs. His website quotes a little higher than that. It was on a Dynojet, don't know the model. It is also insanely humid out, but not really hot. It got very rich around 5k rpms, down to 10. Rest of the A/F was good.

When I find a scanner I will post the chart.

BTW, if you are in Indy and want to dyno your car, today it is $60 for 3 pulls at Modern Speed Labs on the eastside just outside of 465. You might have to wait as the line is long.

Did you map the boost as well? Are you getting the full 16psi? Any vacuum leaks?

Definately low; by almost 40hp and 40lb/ft.

Didn't have a chance to map boost, but my boost gauge was at 16psi the whole time. It also held pretty well to redline. The pulls were done in 3rd and 4th.

Also, keep in mind that it is a K26/6.

I might have an exhaust leak and I am not sure about a vacuum leak, but maybe.

At what rpm did you start your run? Did it drop at all toward redline?

The run was started at 2500. HP and Torque stayed pretty level til the end.

I think it is a vacuum leak actually because it gets very rich around 5krpms and is fine everywhere else. I am just guessing.

I will search for other Guru dynos.

Thanks. Now that looking at some past posts on Guru dynos, I am satisfied. I think I am losing about 10-15hp due to it getting really rich around 5k rpms. I will just have to tackle that, but at least it isn't lean.

I really just wanted to dyno it to see if I was getting into any dangerous A/F ratios.

Thanks for the good chips Danno!

Please post your graph when you get it scanned. Or just take a pic with a digital camera....

If you fix that A/F and get the 10:1 up to 12:1 or so, you'll easily pick up 10-20 hp more. Are you sure your boost is flat all the way to redline? If you are dropping boost in the upper rpm's, then you'll run rich up there.

I am having them email me the chart today or tommorow, I will post it then.

I wasn't behind the wheel on the dyno and boost was not charted, but when I drive, my boost gauge indicates that I am holding boost.

I also don't think it is related to the boost because the A/F drops then comes back up to 12:1 around 5500 and on. (I think...I don't have the chart with me right now)

Any ideas on what could cause a sudden and temporary richness around 5k?
