Thumbs up Just installed test pipe

I'm really surprised at how quickly the turbo spools up now and I especially like the extra hp not to the mention how throatier it sounds now.My set-up is Guru 18 psi kit-Tial 46mm- Evo diverter valve-55 lbs injectors-and it pulls like a train. The test-pipe was the last mod and it really added some more power down low!

I love my 951....

Finally let's your car breath. I felt the same way when I put mine in.

Of course, I had the famous collapsed downpipe leading to the cat. Becaouse of the collapsed wall, I was only making 210rwhp on a dynojet. It jumped to 235 w/o the restriction......

AND it sounds good.

streckfu's951 - Talking about this?

I just got back from the muffler shop having test-pipes installed and want to know what the hell was going on inside my downpipe.

That's terrible. Have others had that experience? I know that they are prone to collapsing, but yikes!

What causes the collapse of the inner pipe like in Dark Lightnings pic?

That is on the top side of the pipe ie facing away from the road. I have the typical dink on the outside where the pipe curves upwards (from speed bumps etc), but that pic makes me nervous. I can't stop thinking "what if mine is collapsed like that?

Pardon my ignorance but what is a testpipe? What are the pros/cons?
Who makes them? Are they legal?

It eliminates the cat, go on SFR web site you can see it better.

strictly speaking a test pipe replaces only the section from the turbo downpipe ( a 3 bolt flange) to the end of where the CAT used to be, you keep your old exhaust from there back to the tail pipe. The Lindsey system is a complete exhaust. Bursch (I think) make an affordable test pipe only. HTH

The middle pipe that connects to the turbo downpipe up front and the cat-back pipe. All it does is eliminate the cat which greatly improves flow, turbo spool, and adds a few ponies for good measure.

jsonnen, How did it affect your boost?? i.e. are you seeing an extra 1-2psi with the same boost settings?

Are you able to hold 18psi higher in the revs now???

FWIW, my car had either a collapsed pipe or a clogged cat...dont know for sure...but with no signal at all going to the wastegate, boost was limited to about 10psi max when it should be boosting way higher!!! Got a test pipe so that I can run normal boost....for now anyways....heh heh...
