Default Retarding Cam Timing by adjusting the Belt?

IIRC, there are something close to 36 teeth on the cam gear. By placing the belt 1 tooth retarded, you'd be altering cam timing by 20 degrees, since the cam moves at 1/2 the engine speed. Obviously this is way too much, but what if you moved the crank gear over 1 tooth on the belt? I dont know how many teeth are on the crank gear, but it could put the change within a decent range of +/- 5 degrees.

Discuss.

They sell an adjustable came gear. That way you can dial in just what you want.

The cam sprocket has 40 teeth, so the crank sprocket has 20 teeth.

You could also look into getting or making an offset woodruff key.
