just ordered a test pipe and a new tial wastegate 38mm w/ .8 bar (11.75psi) spring. Right now the car is boosting at around 9-10psi depending on the gear (full boost at 4000rpm)...everything on the car is completely stock. I figure the stock wastegate spring is giving out or the cat is clogged.
The question is, will the new parts change the fuel mapping enough to warrant a new set of chips?

isn't stock boost something like 10-12psi? With the .8bar spring that wouldn't that keep me within spec for stock boost?
I just want my wastegate to hold stock boost. With maybe quicker spool-up.

Stock boost on a non-S is 11 psi at 3000 rpm, dropping to 7.5 psi by 5,800 rpm. If you change wastegates to hold 11.8 psi to redline the stock chips will go lean at higher rpm. The stock Turbo S holds a constant 11 psi boost to 5,800 rpm, (thus the higher rated HP) then starts decreasing boost. Those chips would probably be okay for you, but the Turbo S DME chip is a 28 pin which doesn't work in your DME. You would be better off getting aftermarket chips tuned for your desired boost curve.

I know dyno time in the US is expensive but personally I would put the car on the dyno and see what boost curve the new wastegate is actually giving
(find a dyno that logs boost and AFR) and what the AFR really is at all rpm's
But given that the dreaded "Boost Addiction" normally sets in pretty soon it may be better to just go straight to WasteGate + Chips

I meant relative to the cost of bolt on performance parts for example wastegates and chips in the US
I suffer from poor purchasing power (crap currency, whatever name you want to call it) as a result relative to the cost of a Tial wasegate (US$ 300)
plus shipping to South Africa (US$65) dyno time here (in a sense a local product) is realtively cheap.
A few hours ago two dyno runs complete with boost and AFR logging to set the boost and check fuelling on my new Tial / Accuboost combo cost me approx US$ 42.
Judging by how reluctant a lot of fellow listers are to get the car onto a dyno I just presumed that US dyno time is pretty pricey
