Any links you can give me to specific sites where I can mail order? I have tried a few but come up blank.
According to Link and PD, they do not recommend the Nippon 3 port for external wastegates. PD even go so far as to say they could never get proper boost control with an external wastegate and a nippon solenoid. They (and Link) recommend a Parker 3 port (at over $300) and rare as rocking horse sh*t to find. Most aftermarket controllers can configure the supplied 3 port to be used in either internal (NC) or external (NO) mode. Links/PDs assemnent of the Nippon solenoid seems to be fair enough but NZ's Link2 and Nippon solenoid is working properly so what gives?
Thanks

Davinder, its always been a values thing in the PCL, the wording used in the manual is not precise enough, the guy who tuned my boost from Link had it sorted very quickly. He is re-writing the manual. Its not a matter of setting it up then adjusting boost to what ever you want, its a dynamic relationship between boost required. I know several people, including Links test cars that the boost control works great, solid as. I never thought I would say that! But it does, its all about the values.

Not doubting for a second mate, I was just wondering if the stuff about the nippon solenoid not working for our cars with external wastegate is true as I know you have one and it sounds like its doing a good job. It sure would be painfull having to drop 320 bucks for a Parker. Like you said, once the right hardware is in place, I'm sure the link computer is as good as any stand alone EBC.

I think the solenoid got a bad rap cos people could not tune it easily as they did not understand the relationships the control variables influence in the PCL. Also, our stock WG is a pile of crap, and operates like an integral WG with respect to the solenoid operation, this took some figuring out! I am positive with a dual port external WG the solenoid matches fine. However, its not my money you could shell out on a solenoid or two, or three...
