Default A/C removal tech session update + parts FS

AlexE and I removed the A/C from my car last night and put in the bracket from the group buy. Everything went smoothly and the car started again after we finished, so I guess we put everything back together properly. The tech session on the paragon is a good guide, but there are a few things that we did differently.

The condensor will come out from under the car without removing the front bumper or the radiator. Just undo the bolts and lines and it comes out no problem. Everything else comes out without much argument. When you reinstall the Alternator don't tighten down the bracket right away because it's a real hassle to get the long bolt through the bracket as it is a bit too close to the fan. Leaving it loose will give you enough play to get everything together.

I now have my old parts for sale and my car had been converted to R134 by the PO if that means anything for the compressor or condensor. ( The condensor comes with some genuine Alberta grasshoppers!)

I might be interested in the parts after I find out why my A/C is dead. Did you cover the inlets and outlets with something to keep the moisture out? The condenser and evaporator, well, the whole system, does not take well to being left open to the atmosphere (read humidity). Protect it and you'll have an easier time selling it.

Hey Justin,

Can I ask a favor? If you get a chance, please take a pciture of the hose that goes from the compressor to the condensor. I want to get a quote to have mine rebuilt, but need a picture.

It would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Simpson

SM, Yep I'll get a picture of that for you by the weekend.

Right now there are people with dibs on all the parts, but if anything falls through, I'll post again.

What is the dryer? I don't know much about the A/C system other than it weighs about 30lbs. The stuff that's out now is the original bracket, compressor, condensor, and a cylindrical canister with the inspection window on top. If there is other stuff that people want me to go dig out for them, I might be able to make that happen.
