Default difference in guru klr's ---danno?

I am running my car with a guru dme intended for a map kit and a guru klr that comes in the standard chips package. Is this a problem? I ask because I have failed emissions twice using this combination, first by 3-4 x the legal limit in hc and co, then I turned all zones down to 0 again and i missed by .6 on hc.

Thanks

How did you do on NOx? High HC and CO combined with low NOx generally means you are running too rich. The opposite is true if you were too lean. Do you have an A/F gauge?

I have an a/f guage, but i have to pass emissions before installing the test pipe which has the bung for the sensor in it. So not right now.

I ended up passing this morning, I put a new o2 sensor in and turned all the zones i could get to down to -1. The guy let me sit in the car while the test was going so I could make sure no other zones were hit and adjust things.

Here are my readings.

Test #1 Link tuned to optimal a/f ratios according to when I had the test pipe in. Some zones were up to +20% The car ran best with these settings. Older o2 sensor HC, limit 2.00, reading 7.05 CO, limit 30, reading 73.66 NOX, Limit 3, reading 1.89

Test #2 Link zones all 0%, with an older o2 sensor

HC down to 2.62 but still not quite passing
CO down to 9.43, passing
NOX up to 2.28, but still passing

Test #3 Link zones all to -1% or lower, newer o2 sensor installed

HC passing at 2.68
CO down again to 8.02
NOX best reading as well, 1.66

Looks like it was a bad o2 sensor, but it is clear between runs 1 and 2 that the link tuning makes a huge difference. I know my cat is good, it was tested, and all "tune up" parts are new.

However, the question still stands, is there a difference between a map klr chip and a regular guru klr?

If I remember right the only thing done on the KLR chip was to defeat the boost limit. So I would doubt that is your problem. At one point some of the chip manufactures were trying to get down to one chip by releasing the boost limit in the DME chip. I don't think that ever worked.

So, what I'm trying to say is they are the same...
