as much as I would hate to steer you there because it has ruined some pricing on cars that are $hit-boxes, bringatrailer.com will get you the most audience, and if someone does want a dedicated track build, they will find it. As far as pricing, unless the mods have some provenance (a wizard built the engine, a nascar guy built the cage, vintage Matter parts, vintage cup car parts etc) no matter the expense, you simply cannot expect a return. The old rule was take 50% of what you put into it out the price, but not many follow this any longer so honestly, price it at your comfortable zone; if there are no bites, that tells you that you might be on the high end. I have over 60k invested in my car with 50k on the mods only.. it is still not done... i might sell the project.. there is no way I can get 60k for it. Marhaba John -
John, I went through this a few years ago with my track-only 914/6 conversion. The car was highly developed with big six, cage, FG body etc. etc. that I raced for 23 years. I was never going to get anything close to what I had invested in the car selling as a race car so I converted it back into a street outlaw. Full body paint and interior plus softening the suspension and street tires was most of the list of things done to bring it back. I think that I could do better selling it now in its current condition that I could have as a track car. I don't intend to sell it and just enjoy driving it to C&C, shows and the occasional canyon run. Having not seen your car it is hard to say if this is a possibility but it worked out for me and was kind of a fun project. The before and after pics:
Thank you for the feedback and ideas. I know I will not get anything close to what I have in it. I haven't used it in a while, and I doubt I will in the near future.
I love the looks of the 914/6. A couple of years ago, I sold my 914 to a friend, he repainted it and put a 2.7l in it. He sold it for top $. The market was hot this past summer.
My track car is a MY89 951, gutted, full cage, coilovers, solid mounts, sledgehammer head, S3Rx turbo, MAF, trick oil pan and modified intake..... Way too many track purpose mods... wish I can bring it back to a street spec, but with the GTR widebody, lexan, gutted interior I think it's way past the street. Having a street 951 and a 930 to play with, I think it's time to let someone else enjoy the track car.
I'm trying to establish a reasonable value, and the appropriate places to advertise it.

Yep, it sounds like the car is too far down the modification road to go back to street. The GTR body may appeal to some on this list. IIR there was someone building a GTR clone on here.
Here is a pic of my friend's 89 and his GTR at a track day.
It’s a difficult proposition to find a buyer for a race or track car. I am in the same boat.
I watch BAT regularly and that’s a route that is now in a declining price mode except for blue chip, known cars.
I’m contacting as many old contacts I can think of in the race and track support business. They are servicing current customers who may be looking for an upgrade or replacement. It’s a slow process.
Love the 914/6. Sheridan body kit? Looks like the roller I sold last year. After 20 years of ownership I came to the conclusion I was not going to finish it so sold to someone who would
John, I think this is the biggest site for selling race cars. While it is European-centric, I've seen cars from all over the world on there. https://racecarsdirect.com/
We have a site down here which is obviously more local to us. Surprised if there weren't similar sites in the US. https://www.my105.com/
