Default Re-bushing the suspension......options

I figure its about time to replace the suspension bushes especially since I've put 17" RE540's on for track.

So - what to do?

a - replace with factory bushes and updated caster blocks?
b - replace with urethane/ delrin?
c - replace with monoball?

I would appreciate experiences good and bad and comments on whats available

Its a daily driver but will be doing at least 16 track days before the end of the year (has M030 option and 968 bars)

With a daily driver I'd go to Delrin where possible, sphericals will be pretty harsh for the road, as well as many times more expensive. Delrin is a better choice than polyurethane, both in durability and noise, as well as performance. It's also not much more expensive than stock rubber in most cases. You'll definitely want a better caster block, whether the 968 at least, or one of the Delrin replacement blocks.

I went to the Porsche parts counter last week looking for the bushings for the rear banana arm, and the parts guy said they were not available. Told me I would have to buy the entire arm. Doesn't sound right, but he showed me the computer screen and there was no listing for the bushing. So Delrin or spherical may be the only option on that part.

Check with Paragon Products for a bunch of these things, including a bunch of rubber options if you so desire for some things. Don't know how much or exactly what they can get, but I'm looking at what to do next on mine...I know I have at least one blown on my 89 M030 front sway bar that's in the car. Considering moving on up to the 968 sways and selling the 89 front and rear bars. May or may not be in the near future, depends on the bills in the next couple of months that come in.

Didn't see anything on the Paragon site except urethane or monoball - who does Delrin - or as my wife say - "were you looking with boys eyes?" (if its not on the top of the pile it isn't there)

Paragon has the widest selection of Delrin, but my quick check just surprised me as they've totally redone their site, and the new site sucks almost as much as their old one - I'd call or e-mail them and ask. I remember delrin available for quite a bit of the rear as well as the swaybars. I'm working on my own Delrin for the front control arms.

I own Delrin bushings for the front control arms, not Delrin arms.

Sam

EDIT: My control arm guy just called me, he says I should have some samples soon, and for you to get your *** back to work

Use the edit function, n00b, and go code yourself a pair of Cobras.

Now if I just edited, I wouldn't be closer to the 25 posts required for a custom avatar, would I? Who's 1337 now?

I have made and sold a couple of sets of delrin bushings for the late cars (as in all 944 turbos).

So far I like them. On my car (and only on one side) I had the bolt that goes through the bushing wear an oblong hole in the subframe. The bolt was loose. Considering all the other bushings were fine this leads me to believe the loose bolt caused the problem. This is after about 15k miles.

I personally switched not only for having a more precise suspension, but also since these cars tend to coat that area with powersteering fluid/oil +lots of heat, I did not want to end up having to replace the original bushings again. Also, my polyurethane experience through weltmeister had been pretty terrible with bushings coming apart after just one track event. Some have had better luck, but weltmeister still does not recommend any competition use of the bushings to my knowledge.

I can make more of these bushings, but last time around there wasn't much interest... We COULD do a group buy. Anybody SERIOUSLY interested?

Tell me more about your Delrin bushes - how do you accomadate any mis-alignment between the front and rear pivot centrelines?
