Nuerburgring lap times
Hello,
I am a longtime lurker who has decided to come out of the woodwork. I am looking for the right 951S to buy and hope to join you all soon.
Anyway, I thought that I would share this link with you guys and ask if some of the EuroRennlisters have more 951 lap times.

Thank you,
j

Check out this site:
http://home3.swipnet.se/~w-32546/nbring/home.htm
They've got a listing of lap-times here:
http://home3.swipnet.se/~w-32546/nbr...ent%20cars.htm
There's some other website that has the the SupraTT and Skyline. There was also some listings of 951s as well with one on race-slicks pulling some darn good times as well. I think Konstantin posted those a while back.

8,31 is a pretty handy time for a standard car. So with another 80 bhp what do you recon 8,20-8,15.
Well impressive.
I have made up an excel sheet with all those enntried on it, but as usual i cant post it on here even as a zip file. (come on what about allowing .zip)!!

I only time a couple of laps each weekend to monitor progress.
Last weekend I had one timed at 8:54, although I think I have gone quicker just a few laps before, Possibly an 8:50?

Thanks for the links, Danno. Unfortunately there was only one 944 on that site and it was an s2 without a time.
Davyboy: What mods do you have?
Thanks for the replies, guys.
Is Konstantin around? He would be a good person to ask.

Haven't timed myself in the 951 around the Nurburgring Nordschleife, but based on comparison with people who do time themselves my laptimes would be around 8.20-8.30, give or take 10 seconds and depending on the weather and traffic you encounter on the lap. This is with a limited amout of track experience (about 120 laps of which 30 laps in the 951) and limited amount of 951 experience (owner about 1 year/5000km). The car is a 1989 951 with the following relevant modifications:
Cup suspension
modified 993RS brakes
320hp ETG tuning kit
Dunlop Supersport R-tires
I would say there is another 20-30 seconds to be had pretty easily, depending on track experience, car knowledge and (most importantly) commitment to risk taking. Keep in mind this is a track with virtually no run-off areas and most of the time about 1 meter of grass between tarmac and armco. If you want to take the risk of heavily crashing your car - there is a lot of time to be gained. There is a video from a Norwegian boardmember showing on the limit driving around the Nordschleife (I will let Mikjel refer to a link of the video himself).
With regards to laptimes around the Nurburgring Grand Prix track (the modern track built next to the Nurburgring Nordschleife) - I recall seeing a test a while ago that when the 959 was pitted against a 944 Turbo Cup back in 1988, the 951 was at least a second faster around the GP track.

Leda Suspension
Pirelli P zero C's
I am fairly confident I can go faster but as Swedeboy says, it's all about the risk factor.

Nurburgring Grand Prix track - test in 1988...of course the slicks will give a major advantage over street tires on track.
Porsche Turbo Cup 1988 1min. 55sec. Roland Asch (slicks)
Porsche 962 1min. 37sec. Jochen Mass (slicks)
Porsche 959 2min. 04sec.
Porsche 911Carrera (231hp) 2min. 21sec.
Nice collection of cars you have there!

Just looking through a few old threads as you do...............
I only did one more visit last year in the 951 and could do 8.47s on normal street tyres. While I am clearly no fast learner.....I am going in the right direction.
I did go back another 2 times (50 laps) but in a 2litre 16 valve Renault Clio (you probably dont even get them here!). Interestingly I spoke to swedeboy and we both did passenger laps in each others cars.
Best in the Clio is 9.01.
a few pictures and videos on our website........www.northloop.co.uk

Hello,
I am a longtime lurker who has decided to come out of the woodwork. I am looking for the right 951S to buy and hope to join you all soon.
______________________________________________
You say that you're looking for a 952, so if that's it okay, but Ahmet is currently trying to sell what appears to be a super 951, and it is probably faster than a stock 952. (Just a guess) There is a thread Entitled "Should I put it on ebay". here on the board. It's red, and very nice, with an owner who really took care of it. Check out his thread, if you're interested.

Nurbrurgring is one of the many reasons that I can become jealous of you Eurolissters, that and your beer!

Hello
then you haven't seen the Alzen 996 Turbo with a time of 6:52. This was much faster than the M3 or any other car at the 24H
