Default 951 pricing

Where is a good place to look at 951 pricing... I recently got the bug to get a 951

There are a couple of '88 Turbo S's I've seen that appear to be in exceptional shape, but they also have exceptional prices... If I look at on-line pricing, they should be in the 10-11k range. Are people paying more for Silver Rose cars?

Thanks

Well ,,it depends what part of the country u are at and whether there is a demand for these cars. I live in the midwest not to much demand. I bought a 951 over 2 years ago. 1988 turbo not the S but with only 72K on it leather sport seats. It did need a timing belt because it had sat for a long time, needed new rotors and pads, also the air cond, compressor went(grumble) but in very good shape and with records, for only $9000, and that was 2 years ago when it was newer. I am hoping these cars go up in value!! But for now I am just driving it as a daily driver, accept I will not drive it in salt etc. good luck on your search, I did see a lot of beat up ones before I found this, but I drove 400 miles to go get it!

Pricing is entirely regionally depedant. Also dependant upon the options and level. For example, Turbo S and 89 Turbo cars command a premium.

Mine just happens to be for sale... the thread is on the first page or two of the turbo forums and on the main page of the regular forums if you would like to see what people are saying as to pricing of mine - http://members.rennlist.com/sach951/index.html

A perfect 951 goes anywhere from 9-18K

Best Wishes,
Sach

Hope your search goes well!

I too have been shopping recently.. The pricing is really dependant on the condition, and its not linear. A decent car may only be worth 8 grand, but an all original, no paint, no stories, all records car could be worth pretty much whatever the owner wants. You also have to remember that there were significantly fewer "S" cars made than say an '86 turbo, so the prices are higher. I dont think i have seen a Turbo S advertised for less than 16.5k recently. Now its not to say that those cars are flying off the shelves at 20 grand, but if the cars are nice enough and the seller is patient enough they will probably sell. I think you should be able to find a really nice 951 for 10-11k, but probably not an S model.

good luck with your search,
-Ryan

I picked up my 89 951 W/ 92,000 Mi. last year for $7,000. No service records but in pretty good shape, black leather interior is mint, body repaint pretty good - Guards Red. Gotta do the belts & front brakes though.

Welcome stecz!
Pricing IS region and season dependant... They seem to be concentrated on the coasts CA, NY, etc... Not sure about TX... Also they are more expensive in the spring and summer...

Perfect condition non S and < 89 ~ 7000-9000

I purchased my 1988 944 Turbo 2 years ago with 39,000 miles on the clock for $17,500. PERFECT condition. This car is unique in that it was brought up to "S" specs with factory parts and done perfectly. M030 suspension, braided brake lines, Konis, sway bars, brakes, everything. The car looks like it came right off the showroom. I feel like I paid a bit much but it was totally worth it. You get what you pay for. I just invested another $1300 (last week) on timing belt, water pump, rollers, tensioners, oil change, filter, fuel filter, air filter, plugs and many hoses. If I were to sell today I'd ask $15,000 or so and hold pretty firm. There are very few 951's in this shape and they seem to command these prices.

I LOVE this car! See my pics.

The best place for pricing information is probably here in the archives.

I spent 13K for my 88 nonS 3 years ago. It was in excellent condition with records back to '90. It had some of the upgrades I wanted at the time so I was willing to pay a little more.

Then again, $13k was average back then it seemed.

If you find a S for under $14k there is something wrong with it or the seller is not aware of what they have.

There are of course exceptions............like somebody started smokin' krack and needs money quick =)

The Texas market is pretty good most of the time. At least in the Dallas area. A nice turbo s or 89 turbo will start at around 9-10k and go up from there. Maybe it's cause there are lot's of used P-car's for sale everyweek. Whatever the case reside yourself to the fact that you might have to go out of state to get the car you really want. I drove to Virgina to get mine. It's a 88' non S with great records and maintaince work. I paid $7200.00

My seller ironically is 951carter the above poster....

Wuz up man. Thanks for answing my turbo questions once and for all.

For a nice "S" with records and lower mileage you're looking @ 15k and up. Unless of course you look in Pano... then you're talking 20k and up :-)
