I haven't had my injectors out of the Pcar, but I've just had them cleaned in my '82 Scirocco (mechanical injectors). The cleaner guy told me that to properly store my spare set, I should first run some compressed air through them to remove the fuel. I did that, and about 80psi really shoots whatever is in there out! So, if you have compressed air, it should be really easy to make a tube that would screw onto the injector, and run some mild solvent through it w/ compressed air (like diesel?), you could easily see the spray pattern too. I don't think it would hurt it, I'm thinking it could be an easy DIY job.
My good friend is has a masters in mech. engineering, w/ lots of high pressure liquid experience (cutting tools at many thousands of psi etc.), I'll have to chat w/ him about this.

Dr Injector charges $19 ea for Bosch mechanicals, and $29 ea for Bosch electronic injectors, including all the 'small parts' -according to the guy at the shop near me. Just be glad it's not a V-12, right?, I'd hate to pay for a tuneup on one of them, God bless the big 4.

I look locally for diesel service shops, all of them have their own injector flow cleaners, and last time cost $10 each with new o-rings/seals.
