does anybody have any experience with the YOKO A550V tires - I found a really good deal on a set and curious if they are worth the bother - the tread pattern looks fairly good for both wet and dry traction - the tires indicate a 380 tread wear and AA traction - these would be mounted on a daily driver, so I'm not overly concern with SERIOUS performance as with a track car.
any info is greatly appreciated!

they could be a Sears only version of the A520. Sears has different model numbers for "lowest pricing" purposes - no comparison shopping. That may be why they don't show up at tire rack, etc.
I have A540 Sears all season tires from the PO. they are not too grippy, especially in braking. Note that mine are fairly old and dry and ready for replacement - the tread has outlived the useful life since the car doesn't get too many miles - so they do wear well.

i am running a set on the rear of a completely stock 1988 944 turbo.
the tires were purchased from sears automotive. however, i remember that sears met the price of an online tire store. so there was another seller of these tires at some point in time.
my car is a daily driver all summer long and the tires seem fine for that purpose. i rarely drive in the rain, but the few times that i have been caught in the wet weather the tires have been solid.
fwiw, i was once caught in a light dusting of snow heading back from western massachusetts and there were no problems what-so-ever.
hope this helps.
cheers,

I just got a set of AVS ES 100s, don't know if there is any comparison, but they are awesome. Unbelievable the difference a nice set of tires will make on these cars. Good luck man.

treadwear ratings: I have some access to a true tire expert, and he told me that the treadwear rating number isn't any good for comparing tires or predicting treadlife. It's comes from a sample set for some testing, but it usually isn't even based on that specific tire model, so don't worry about that number too much. -I never knew that.
