Got an email today stating that due to poor ticket sales Sandy-Mesquite Valley Educational Foundation and Positively Kids is having to cancel the raffle for DFASTEST's 3.0 L car. If you bought tickets you should be getting one as well - looks like you can request a refund by sending a SASE. If you bought tickets you can just do nothing and your ticket purchase will be considered a cash donation.

Told ya, how ever nobel his intentions may have been, it was really just silly a idea. He could have bought 3 996's for the amount of money he supposedly spent on the 951. You can bank that 1 of those 996's alone would probably generate more cash then 10 "hot" 951's ever could. There's 100's of different ways to do it, unforunatly raffeling a 951 is not the one.

How much interest has he got in the several months he has kept the money? Anyone know how many tickets were sold?
I think several people know him or have met him. I recall stories about people riding in his car...

Wow that sucks a big one. The 951 is a small market though. Not many people have use for a 480whp 15+year old porsche. Shame cause its such a nice car. Maybe I can by it from him for the hundred doller fee.....heh heh heh

I saw this coming 6 months ago. That's why I never bought a ticket.

I'm certain others had the same reservations I did. I think he was trying to do a good thing, it just was doomed from the beginning.

It's too bad.
"We have had tremendous response to the Porsche Raffle and we have listened!"
After a nose stretcher like that it's hard to believe anything the guys says.
I gotta wonder how much of his story is true. Has anyone checked with the Nevada State gaming commission, to see if he's legit? Do you have to be registered to run a lotttery in that state>
He refers to a website. Is this it?: http://www.powerhaus.com/raffle/default.htm

Dewyane,
Thanks for the address--never got an e-mail and the request deadline is the 29th--
I think Joe didn't intend to run a scam or anything, like that. He had good intentions, but things just didn't seem to work out.
The link to the car was on the Powerhaus website--and the raffle was advertised in Excellence, so it was definately legit.
I am on a non-profit organization's commitee for a sporting clays event which we organize every year(United Cerebral Palsy Foundation) and I can tell you it sucks when you don't make enough $$$ in ticket sales to cover an item which you purchased, so I can understand why the raffle was cancelled.
But, man I would have like to win that thing....
