Default Help !!! Garrett GT 25 Compressor Map

Hi Guys,

Bought a Garrett GT25 TO4S. Going for under the
curve power instead. Will commence installation
next week.
Question : Can anyone help me search for the compressor
map for this turbo ? The only thing that I know is that
it flows 44lbs of air. Crazy as it may seem, the dealer
that I bought the turbo from does not even have the
map. Been surfing but zero results.

Thanks

You will find something resembling a compressor map here . Maybe you can ask the manufacturer directly about a more detailed map.

I think this could be the GT25 you bought. It flows about 44lb.
http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me..._Code=GRT-TBO-

And this is the map
http://www.atpturbo.com/root/maps/gt2540r.htm

Do you know more about the turbo you bought?
Like the trim on the compressor and turbine.

Hi Guys,
Thanks. Yes Edman, that's the one.
Funny that I could'nt raise this map
when I visited ATP's site.
Edman, do you think this map is
accurate ? BTW, I wanted to go for
a GT30R like yours but the turbine
AR's that they had here is huge. I
think it was .82 & 1.06. What kind
of hp are you making now Edman ?

Thanks again guys

Hi J Chen,
I don't know how much hp yet. I just go the car running last weekend.
But with a .63a/r 84 trim it worked out very good.
15psi by 3300-3500rpm.

The GT25 map is probably very accurate. Garrett has always put out the right info. And the guys at ATP are honnest and publish the real info.
Just look at their site, they don't mind giving the info to everybody.

I am planing on doing a long post about my GT30R install and review tonignt.

My GT30R is like this one.

Hi Edman,
Hmmm, seems like many vendors are selling
GT30R's with different specs. The original one
that I know is actually a GT3040.
BTW, I posted another thread asking you if
you would be kind enough to provide me with
the dimensions of the adaptor that you use to
mount the turbo to the engine mount.
I'm gonna get one machined.

Thanks in advance

J Chen, I hope you don't mind me jumping in your thread but, I am about to buy a new turbo for my 951 and I would like to go with a garret.
2 questions though:

1) What kind of modifications do you guys do to fit the turbine to the exhaust? Or do you go with a KKK #8 exhaust turbine?
2) Where do you suggest buying the turbo and how much did your's run ya.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Hi johne,
Depends on whether it's Garrett T3/T4
hybrid or the GT series.
For the hybrids try contacting Innovative
Turbo. They've got good prices.
As for the GT turbos, there are quite a no.
of things to mod to fit one.
Namely :
1. Welding new flanges onto crossover
& down pipe
2. New oil & water feed lines
3. Machine down the size of the inlet
of the compressor housing from 4 inches
to 3 inches (to clear alternator)
4. To weld up wastegate outlet (for GT25R only)
5. To fabricate a spacer/adaptor to mount
turbo to engine mount (this is due to smaller
dimensions of the GT series CHRA
Please be inform that this is what I've noted
that has to be done to install one. As I'm about
to start the installation I will update you as to
what other stuff is required.

Hi J Chen,
BTW, I posted another thread asking you if
Sorry i did not see that post.
Well the adapter i used is kinda weird and not easy to explain.
I threaded an adapter like this one
The big end into the mount and the small end into a flange i bought .
Kinda like this one but flat

Then this flange is bolted to the turbo.

The adapter i am using is very heavy duty and thick. The shop where i got all my oil & water line parts told me its made to support 5000 PSI.

I also had to trim the mount alot to get the clearance needed to fit the turbo over the factory turbo seating flange. I even cut slots in the mount so i could reach the bolt that bolt into the turbo.

Hope this helps

Hi Edman,
Thanks for the info. Very good
idea. My original idea was to machine
a block with a smaller top to mate
to the GT CHRA & a bigger base to the engine . BTW Edman, do you
have the thread size & is it revervse
pitch or same pitch on both threads ?

Hey NZ,
Nope sold it & bought a GT25R.
For now I've decided that I can't
live with lag. Will upgrade when
I go big bore.

Ok, not busting your ***** here... but why didnt you bolt it up and have a go? The lag for me has been probably what you would expect from a K26/8. Did you have the 8 or 10 hotside?

Hi NZ,
Two reason.
1. The turbo was spec for a 2.8 or 3L
engine. Long story, I had a 968
engine once but was stolen.

2. With the 2.5 right now, I kind of like
the response I have with the K26/6.
I'm very sure once I install the GT25R
plus other upgrades it will be even better.

Ok, so it was not the same spec as mine?

Really sorry to hear about the engine! Must have be stolen to order you think? Weird engine to steel...

I wanted to do that also. But relised it wouldn't work for 1 reasons.
We have to bolt up the adapter to the turbo from the bottom. And i did not think it would work since the head of the bolt going to the turbo would be where i need to have the threads for the bolt holding it to the mount.
I don't know if i am explaning it right???
See picutre.
