Default NorCal 951/944 Fun Run-May 16th

A planned 944/951 Fun Run is set for Sunday, May 16th. This trip was started and posted by “ibdavid” about a month ago and the bare details are now worked out. This is for all 944’s, fast or slow, beater or beauty. The mountain route is geared towards the Sacramento area but all are welcome. The plan is to meet at Georgetown between Hwy. 50 and 80 at 9 am and hit the Georgetown Divide Loop (Wentworth Springs Rd.) up to the Loon Lake and Wrights Lake area. This is a good newer road also very popular with the Sport Bike set. The drive provides a bailout point at the east end (Ice House Rd.) for those wanting to drop down some serious switchbacks to Hwy. 50 in the canyon or you can retrace your route home. This is a superb area for those Porsche-Kodak moments with snow-capped peaks in the background. Should be an exceptionally fine drive and a great chance to meet new folks. From Georgetown and back the actual drive time shouldn’t be over 3 hours not counting getting to the meeting point. Those interested can reply here and contact me or David, but please no PM’s. Hope to hear from you all.

So far the group looks like:

2Tight and Son, ibdavid, DanD and Son(?), Danno, Darius Jucas, serge944, Eyal, CR , TerribleOne, Brad-Cam. That's twelve cars so far...let's go for a Dirty Dozen or more.

For those of you that are in so far, here is some additional info on the route with photos. Granted, the links are from our 2-wheeled brethen but we can't hold two less wheels, scabby knees, and buggy teeth against them...a good road is a good road. If this doesn't stir your interest, you better check for a pulse.

I'm looking forward to seeing who reserves a seat on the 951 express. :-) Oh....okay, or the 944 express for the N/A guys.

Please make time and come out, it should be a fun run. Thank you Steve for putting together a more "official" invitation.

It's all good to me............just let me know Steve/Danno. Based on our start time we should be "done" before the mad rush.

Does anyone else care? I personally would rather wait a day if more people are planning on attending. But that's just my .02

if its the 16th, i may be able to go to laguna seca the 15th, sleep there, and join you for your run the 16th! that would be cool, of course, still pending on whether the car will be working or not.

Ok, here's my schedule for next week:

Friday 14 May: All day at the Streets of Willow Springs with Speedventures
Saturday 15 May: All day at SoCal 951 headgasket party (Legoland951 and Devia)
Sunday 16 May: hang out with NorCal 944/951 fun run

Where and When are we gonna meet? I'll probably come up Sat. night and hang out with the family in Saratoga.

Let's just go with the 16th and keep the meet time early and maybe we'll avoid the Sunday evening traffic.

I'm really hoping that you guys who can show, will.

" that headgasket party may not be happening on the 15th since some of us"

It think it's gonna happen if people make it or not. I think James is just itching to get this car back together. Between me, Frank and James, we can probably do the headgasket in under 4 hours.

Darius,
It is on the 16th, no if's and's, or but's. Danno, how could you resist the following?

For those of you that are in so far, here is some additional info on the route with photos. Granted, the links are from our 2-wheeled brethen but we can't hold two less wheels, scabby knees, and buggy teeth against them...a good road is a good road.
