Default 965 vs 951..

965 (chipped @0.8Bar) vs 951 (3.0T 8V @ 1Bar)

Total: 10 miles. Some long gradual bends and 5 miles straight.

Who'll win?

NZ, you sure? Skills aside. Stock Gear Ratio. What if it is all straights?

Lots of ego money on this one.

You could do with a longer 5th I am sure... what does you car top out at? been there? You should be lighter. You will have to maintain 280-300kph to beat it I would think.

260kph... could be higher but I usually start to think of my family at that kind of speed.

I think you will have to put your family aside for this one... Does anyone know what the stock 5th is good for? You can put in a longer 5th pretty easily.

Yeah, I always have to chug a few export golds before I go over 250.

951's 5th at 7000rpms is 180mph I think.

The 951 weighs about 3000 lbs and the 965 3300. You stated the power in terms of chipped and boost, which is either what two specific cars have or arbitrary. My 965 has B&B headers and exhaust, a bigger turbo and runs 1 bar spring, making about 425-440 right now. At 440 that's 7.5 lbs/rwhp. I don't know what the 951 at 1 bar makes, but the dyno curves I've seen show a lot of modded 951's making about 300 rwhp, or, 10 lbs/rwhp. So, based on these specifics and a 5 mile straight, I would assume the 965 would walk the 951 even if there was some pickup in the twisty bits and gearing aside.

If we look at where the lbs/rwhp would make the two cars equal, the 965 would have to be making 330 rwhp. Each would be at 10 lbs/hp. Then, gearing, brakes and inherent handling differences would make whatever difference...

I make 300rwhp at 4000 :P Just kidding.... anyway, the 965 I am referring to makes 380rwhp (max), thus 8.68lbs/HP. It will be close as long as the 951 makes 350rwhp (8.57lbs/HP)?

Just wondering if this Weight/HP thing is logical.
