Default Dyno results: 300 rwhp with 18 psi Guru chips

Actually it's close to 300 rwhp. The exact numbers are 297 rwhp and 317 ft-lb rwtq. Here's the plot from the best dyno run (after fine-tuning the fuel maps):

Here's the boost curve calculated from the datalogging file I took during the dyno run:

The dyno is a Dynojet 248. The mods on the car are:

Guru MAP Stage 1 with latest 18 psi chips
Guru WG
Reliaboost MBC
55 lb/hr injectors
3 bar FPR

The rest of the car is 100% stock, including the original factory catalytic converter.

You can see the boost peaks at 18 psi but starts to drop above 5000 rpm, heading down towards 14 psi. However, there's a curious "spike" upwards near redline, which was really there in the datalogging file.

Because of the dropping boost, the A/F ratio was initially way too rich on top. I ended up taking out a lot of fuel above 5000 rpm to lean it out to 12:1. If I could have held 18 psi to redline, the original fuel programming would have probably been OK. I'm sure there's at least another 10-15 hp to be had around the peak at 5500-6000 rpm if I could hold 17-18 psi a bit longer.

Since 99% of my driving is under 5500 rpm on the street, I'm not sure it's really worth going after those last few hp at this point. The torque looks great from 3500 to 5500 rpm.

I'm pretty satisifed with the results at this point. And keep in mind that all this has been done for less than $2k in mods, including the "optional" Link programming module and serial datalogger. (Those last two items are really a must for serious tuning IMO).

WOW, nice!! I would get the cat out before worring baout those few hp hp up on the top end.

I would have expected the k26/8 to hold a little more than that at redline. At least 15-16psi.

GOOD JOB DANNO.

Hey Jake, impressive numbers. BTW, I have been told that a jagged curve up high like that could be an ignition miss. After recently replacing the plugs and cap on my car, which were only a couple years old, I noticed much smoother acceleration. When you are accelerating to redline on the street have you noticed any hesitation?

During the dyno runs, there was no hesitation. Not all the dyno runs had that spike at redline. I think it's the tolerance in boost control with the simple Reliaboost MBC. I noticed slight variations in boost (about 1 psi) on the high end from one run to the next.

However, prior to my dyno runs, I did experience some misses on the street under heavy boost. Danno suggested I reduce my spark plug gap a bit (to .025" to .028") and it seems to have helped. I did find that my plugs were gapped slightly wider than spec so that might have explained it.

Those numbers look good. I had a question about the A/F ratio, is it bad that it starts out so lean? Did the place that ran the car know it had a cat and hook the wide band o2 up at the test port, or did they just put the sniffer in the tail pipe?

John, what a gem you have there.

Now you must publicly vow never to sell your 951!

What an odd boost curve... and with a new WG... whats up with that?

i'm curious about the dropping boost, i thought that wasn't supposed to happen with the guru wastegate? danno can you comment on this? i'm just curious as to whether that wastegate will be able to hold more boost in my setup.

You can upgrade your link box w/ boost control ($100 + 3 port solinoid) and get better boost control.

How is the driveability?

Any stumble like has been discussed before on the forum?

You still have the flapper box installed inline too, right?

What octane are you running?

John did you bypass the cycling valve when you hooked up the Reliaboost? If you get rid of the cycling valve you should see a flatter boost curve.

Full boost at around 4400 is pretty bad too... Surely Danno told him about the CV. Once you sort that boost curve out your car pull a lot stronger.
