I don't understand what all the going back and forth is about. Here's proof:

I'll have to chew on that for a while.

Old thread but i couldn't find info i was looking for. I have a set of new ET Phonedials including 7" ET 52,3 front phonies. I would like to use that particular wheel with 951S front brakes. Wheel fit over 951S brake caliper OK, but when try to rotate the wheel it hit to caliper's cross over brake pipe. Wheels has just few annoying parts which looks like they are there just to make it impossible to use with bigger caliper. I wonder have any of you machined these parts off the wheel. From picture this can be seen easily.

Otherwise there is plenty of room for 951S brakes.

CUP cars magnesium wheels does not have that "lip"

Both early and late 8" phones fit over my Turbo S front callipers with zero clearance issues.

I know, old thread. But in case someone is interested:
Some of the 16"-D90 wheels (both the 7" wide and 8" wide) fit directly on my 1988 turboS with Big Blacks (from 928 gts - same as Big Reds) without any spacers. No modification needed.

They (turbo s calipers) will also fit under the stock 968 7" wheels. Will not work with late 7" phones, so use 8" all the way round; better track setup anyhow -- that's what I run.

Yes i know some other sizes fit without any problems, but i have a set of ET52,3 7" phonies and they do not fit because of that" lip. So the original question was: have any of you machined that lip away. I am not able to make my wheels 8" and i don't want to buy another set.
Also my car won't see any track driving, it's purely for street.

I always thought big blacks won't fit under these wheels. What caliper adaptors are you using with the big blacks?

I was able to fit 7.5" D90 wheels over a big black set up, however clearance was so minimal that I would not dare driving such a combo. Offset on the 7.5" D90 is 65mm though, against 52.3mm on the 7" & 8"...

Do you really drive your car this way?

No adaptors. Direct fit (I have a turboS).

My 7,5" D90 does not fit, to small inner diameter.
My 7" and 8" D90 fits. Not much clearance.

I suppose i am going to modify my wheels with CNC machine, so i can use 951 S brakes with these ET 52,3 & 7" original 951 wheels. It's odd but rear wheels does not have that lip.
