Default Turbo water temp switch...

I was looking through the archives and it appears that nobody posted a part # for a replacement sensor that would work.

I've been to several parts houses and nobody can match up the switch without a part #. What's the consensus?

A water temp switch that starts with "930" ?? Can that be?

I just got one from NAPA as recommended by others here:

ECHFS-158

it is a fan switch from an 85 Nissan. Perfect fit, and it switches on at a lower temp than stock to give added protection.

I thought the 930 number was strange too, but it looks like it is used as an oil temp switch in those cars to run the fan. Not sure though. Someone check the offical parts book to confirm.

I would like to find a 120 degree switch, I don't want my pump to stay on for too long a time. Also, do you remember how much the NAPA switch was?

I have to assume it's a commonly avail. part. I can use a part # instead, and go pick it up myself from a parts store. I don't see why it's being kept a secret.

PS: I've seen several 944 turbos with a single prong, short sensor and I don't mind putting a different connector coming from the factory wiring... Trouble is nobody knows what this sensor is!

John @ Vitesse (fast951) posted the NAPA part number a few weeks ago.

I'll be darned. I just looked it up, and it is indeed a 930 part. I wonder if my radiator came off a 930 too.

Well that's interesting considering I have a 951 part # on my temp switch...

I'm sure the dealer wants way too much for this sensor. If nothing comes of this thread, I shall keep trying local stores...

The 930 oil temp switch is the same as the 944 turbo switch. Same part # or x-reference. I pulled one off and compared it to my own - identical, but they are the tall variety.

Jason, if you got a picture, I could tell you...

Eclou, if it's the same switch why is there a 951 part # on mine? When you say you compared it to your own, do you mean your switch w/the 951 part # or the napa part?

I'm basically looking for a sensor that will screw in the pipe and is the correct temperature. I wouldn't even mind something slightly higher temp, but won't go with lower. I'd like to avoid paying $50+ at the dealer, and something shorter would be great... I know I have seen this before...
