Default Gauges after guru install

I installed the DME, KLR, FPR, and Boost Enhancer from the basic guru kit a few weeks ago.
Last night I noticed that when I'm in 5th gear @ 3-4k RPM (normal highway speed), if I floor the throttle, the boost gauge (factory) goes from 0.4 to ~1.5 almost instantly, but there's a half second or more lag before the tach moves, but when it does it goes up quickly.
In lower gears the lag is less noticeable.
Is this normal behavior that I just never noticed before? Or did I screw up the install?

That doesn't sound right to me. When I installed the Guru chips it didn't affect the boost gauge in that manner at all. It just gave me max boost at 3500-redline of 2 bar. No erratic jumping of the gauge needle. Might be something wrong if thats not what it did before the install. If you are actually boosting 1.5 bar before the tach moves then your probbly running way too lean and thats definitely not good. Try getting hold of Danno and see what his input is on the matter.

Wait a minute. I missed the fact that you said you were already at 3-4 k rpm. If the turbo is already spooled at 3-4k rpm and you floor it thenm yes the boost gauge should jump pretty quick. But if you are off the gas and drifting and you floor it then the gauge shouldn't instanly jump to 1.5 bar because the turbo has to spool up first. Sorry to confuse you with the first post but it sounds like your car is alright.

So is that just typical turbo lag that I never noticed before?
Perhaps I notice it more now 'cuz I'm paying more attention to it, to see how it reacts.
...or maybe 'cuz the turbo comes on so aggresively now. (Thanks Danno, best $300 ever).

This sounds normal to me, mine does the same.

I had a similar problem when I put my chips in....truth is...it was like that the whole time....I just never really noticed!!

I think we pay more attention to certain gauges after we install something....notice the quirks a bit more than before.

Seems normal....go enjoy those chips!! Wish I had them!!

The tach moving quickly before the speedo catches up was a different problem. That's the clutch's way of telling you that it won't survive the weekend.
